NEW FLEET Powerful and versatile, Hissho fleets can easily switch between straightforward and devious loadouts thanks to numerous polyvalent slot modules capable of hosting both support and defense or attack modules. ILLO MINOR FACTION The Illo are reasoning machines whose credo is Survival of the Fittest. Their goal is to reach this Sanctified Equilibrium as quickly as possible by eliminating those species unlikely to survive in the long term. BEHEMOTHS These gigantic ships are remnants from the mysterious Endless era. While extremely deadly and versatile in their original state, their ultimate purpose is to evolve and become specialized. Civilization VI for PC is a 4X, turn based, empire-building game. 4X stands for eXplore, eXpand, eXploit, eXterminate, and this is a reasonable summary of what the player needs to do in order to take the civilisation from small village to superpower. About the Game Build civilisation from tiny village or settlement all the way up to political juggernaut – basically a digital boardgame in which you have to build your empire from scratch into a leader on the world’s stage through trade, deals, battles and much more. The terrain affects your successes, with forest, desert and tundra all having their own advantages and disadvantages to the player, so you will need to adapt your game play to get the best out of the area in which you are playing. New Details You can now spread your city around a bit – previously all improvements to a city were stacked into the hex block on which the city was built. Gives more scope for expansion and gives the player more freedom in the layout of their city The new ‘unstacked’ way allows for cities to be better laid out, and players can earn bonuses for placing appropriate buildings in the right place – for example placing barracks near a training ground is a sensible decision, and is rewarded in the game This is not to say that you can no longer stack items, but it is now somewhat limited and stacking can only happen with similar types of construction The menus are displayed as ‘trees’ and there are trees for many aspects of the game, from Technology to Culture. The latter is new, and allows players to more easily win a game played from a cultural slant – something that was quite tricky in the original incarnation. Ways to Play The game rewards players for sensible decisions – building a marina, for example, in the middle of dry land will result in few resources being made available, whereas building it by the water will ensure a steady flow of resources coming your way. There is really only one way to play: you against the game, but here are some tips that will help you if you are just getting started: Planning ahead is key As mentioned above, you will need to consider every move carefully, in every aspect of the game. From where you are going to place a theatre today to leaving enough virgin countryside for a National Park some time far in the future, you have to think about everything! Barbarians are smart Do not think that because you caught just one glimpse of a barbarian who then vanished that your city is safe, especially in the early days of construction. Often, they are scouts, assessing whether your city is attackable, and will return before you know it with a horde all set to destroy your careful creation! Traders generate roads Use this useful feature to get your infrastructure in place by spreading your traders far and wide. Doing this will ensure that your civilisation benefits from a wide network of roads with very little other effort from you. Read the tech and civic trees carefully These can offer you invaluable advice and can even offer warnings if you learn to read them thoroughly, putting their tips into good practice to build a magnificent civilisation. Endgame Strategy is the key to succeeding at this game, and you must always be thinking three or four steps ahead of the game at every stage. Filling up the best tiles too soon can leave you short of assets at a later time, so you must plan out your city as carefully as possible, leaving enough space to expand into when necessary.

MARKUS WULFHART (THE HUNTSMARSHAL’S EXPEDITION) UNIQUE FACTION MECHANICS: Emperor’s Mandate As Markus Wulfhart expands Imperial interests in Lustria, his stature in the eyes of the Emperor grows. As a result, he receives a broadening range of increasingly advanced Empire units to aid in his expedition. As new territory is captured, his building options also diversify. In the Eye of the Vortex campaign, Markus will ultimately face the Spirit of the Jungle himself, Nakai the Wanderer, to decide who holds dominion over the jungles of Lustria. Wulfhart’s campaign progress is measured by how effectively he fulfils the Emperor’s Mandate. Expansion, successful military operations and other campaign activities increase his acclaim, which is tracked on the Emperor’s Mandate bar. The Emperor’s Mandate also dictates the quality of units available to Wulfhart via the Imperial Supplies system, which dispatches better units for him to recruit from time to time. As the Mandate bar fills, he will also unlock bonuses to further improve these units, plus new recruitment buildings. In the Eye of the Vortex campaign, filling the Emperor’s Mandate bar will cause Nakai the Wanderer to issue a final, do-or-die challenge to Markus Wulfhart – a call to battle that will become the stuff of legend! Hostility The lands beyond the Empire are inimical to man, and Wulfhart’s actions will not go unnoticed. While defeating the local inhabitants improves Wulfhart’s Imperial standing and increases his supply of fresh troops, it also enrages Lustria’s native denizens… Wulfhart’s Hostility rating reflects the current level of Lustria’s retaliation against his military activities. Aggressive activities, such as military actions and raiding, can raise Hostility through five levels. Conversely, a more passive approach to the campaign will cause Hostility to fall. Each Hostility level has a negative effect on Wulfhart’s campaign, but is also a measure of his aggression against the Lizardmen. As he ascends through the Hostility levels, reinforcements are dispatched more frequently via the Imperial Supplies system. The strength of these reinforcements is still dictated by the Emperor’s Mandate bar. When peak Hostility is reached, a Lizardmen task-force is dispatched with the aim of defeating Wulfhart. He will instantly receive an Imperial Supplies drop and will need to survive sustained assault for a number of turns before the hostility bar resets. Wulfhart’s Hunters Scattered throughout Lustria are four of the finest Hunters that ever lived. Wulfhart may attempt to track them down and acquire their services to aid in the expedition’s success, and subsequently developing each Hunter’s unique attributes and learning the tales of their past deeds. Wulfhart can search for the four Hunters in the Jungles of Lustria by completing special missions. The Hunters each have bespoke stories which are uncovered through unique missions. Since Dong Zhuo’s death, Lü Bu has flirted with a number of allegiances, swiftly falling in (and out) with the warlords he finds around him. Having found further opportunities by taking Cao Cao’s land while he was away avenging the death of his father, he now flees from Cao Cao and his allies, seeking further means to prove his battle prowess and defeat the supposed heroes of China. Meanwhile in the South, Sun Ce mourns his own father’s death, Sun Jian. Vowing to defend his legacy, he seeks expansion into the South, but can he keep his people safe and prove his worth beyond his father’s legacy? With the world in turmoil, it’s up to you to carve out a path for your hero, and lay waste to anyone that stands in your way. LÜ BU The legendary warrior Lü Bu may be fearsome in battle, but he is hasty when it comes to the intricacies of rule. At the start of his campaign players will find themselves locked in combat with Cao Cao’s main army. Fight your way out of Chen to survive and rally your forces for the next inevitable showdown. This is the only DLC in which Lü Bu and his faction become playable. Unique Faction Mechanics: * Momentum: Lü Bu’s faction centres around Lü Bu himself defeating enemies as faction leader. Defeating enemy characters grants momentum points which enable a variety of powerful actions and bonuses. * Greatest Warrior Panel: Lü Bu’s faction has access to the ‘Greatest Warriors’ panel, featuring legendary warriors from the Three Kingdoms period. Defeating these legendary warriors with Lü Bu unlocks various permanent bonuses for the faction. Unique Story Events: * Experience the historic conflict between Cao Cao and Lü Bu * Lü Bu’s shifting allegiances: will you join Liu Bei, and later betray him? Lü Bu’s fractured faction: Will your generals betray you? * When playing as Lü Bu you also have access to two new units; * Camp Crushers (two-handed sword infantry) * Flying Riders (armoured shock cavalry) SUN CE The military general Sun Ce is a vassal of Yuan Shu at the start of this campaign, as his father Sun Jian was before him. In Sun Ce’s campaign the player must grapple with decisions around the overlord; should Sun Ce stay loyal or should he rebel? With a desire to push South and conquer his homelands, Sun Ce has a fraught journey ahead of him. Unique Faction Mechanic: * Legacy Of Wu: Sun Ce has a list of ‘ambitions’ and completing these goals grants permanent bonuses to his faction. This includes tasks such as conquering lands in the south, gathering high-level characters into his court and getting vengeance for his father’s murder. * Reckless Luck: Sun Ce’s reckless behaviour lets him expand his kingdom with unmatched speed and ease. But the luck that keeps him alive can’t be sustained forever. If his luck runs out, Sun Ce dies. By completing his ambitions, his death can be delayed and, perhaps, avoided. Unique Story Events: * Guide Sun Ce’s unbridled ambition and reckless confidence into conquering the South. * Experience Sun Ce’s conflict with Yan Baihu and Yuan Shu. * Prove your worth, and Sun Jian’s old generals will flock to your faction.
