In each of the three presented parts, the player takes on the role of Dante and must complete assigned missions, which mainly involve an exploration of diverse locations. In Devil May Cry 1 it is the Mallet Island, in Devil May Cry 2 the action takes place in the modern metropolis, while the area that the player travels in Devil May Cry 3 combines the best features of the location of both previous games. On our way there are both lesser enemies (we are talking about masks from hell) and powerful bosses, defeating them not only requires excellent reflexes and skillful fingers, but also mastering the secrets of an extensive combat system. The clashes take place in real time, and Dante faces the adversaries using a sword and two pistols - a wide range of combos allows you to perform spectacular attacks. After charging a special indicator, the hero can turn into a demon, wreaking even more havoc in the enemy's ranks. In addition, the struggle in Devil May Cry 3 is made more attractive by the possibility of choosing the fighting style to individual preferences - for example, the Swordmaster technique is based on precise cuts with a sword, we use Royal Guard on a defensive, while Gunslinger is the most effective in an offensive. During the game, we observe the action from film shots - the series is based on pre-rendered backgrounds with a static camera. The above-described elements of the game are complemented by simple platform segments and uncomplicated puzzles consisting mainly in searching for items. It is worth remembering that our actions are constantly monitored by a scoring system; the ratings we receive are determined by the time we complete a specific stage, combat style, items used, and damage taken. Reception Each of the three parts of the series, which includes Devil May Cry HD Collection, was rated very positively by the reviewers. The first, Devil May Cry 1, is considered a classic by most players. In their opinion, this game started a great series and, despite many years, many people still want to play in it. It's timeless and thanks to the good fighting system, it still makes me happy. When it comes to Devil May Cry 2, players also saw many advantages. During the rating, they primarily pointed to the possibility of upgrading the weapon and the fact that there is a chance to play as Dante and Lucia. The third part of the series, just like the previous ones, was rated very positively.
