War in a Box: Paper Tanks is a production of the independent studio DQ Team addressed to lovers of tower defense strategy, who are no strangers to children's games with the paper army. The action of the game takes place on the desk. The player takes on the role of a general who, on cardboard models of battlefields, tries to repel the attacks of the opponent's cardboard troops, using paper artillery for this purpose.
Gameplay
The gameplay in War in a Box: Paper Tanks follows the patterns found in many tower defense games. In designated places on the board, the player erects defense turrets, which are designed to stop the incoming waves of enemy units before they manage to reach his "base". Destroying an enemy unit is rewarded with a small amount of money, for which you can buy new defensive formations or upgrade the ones you already have. The arsenal of available weapons includes machine gun positions, cannons, artillery guns, anti-aircraft batteries and energy cannons (they temporarily reduce the movement speed of enemies). The various types of "turrets" differ in parameters such as range, firepower, rate of fire, cost of purchase and modification, as well as effectiveness against individual formations of enemy units (planes, airships, armored vehicles, tanks, etc.).
