On his way, the protagonist encounters both regular opponents and much more powerful bosses, whom he eliminates using spiritual weapons, spells and combat abilities. In addition, as he progresses, Ori learns new attacks and spells, and acquires new skills, thanks to which he can face more and more challenges over time. Regardless of this, the game is characterized by a high level of difficulty (similar to its predecessor).
