Thuja Orientalis 'Aurea Nana' (Dwarf Golden Oriental Thuja) - 120-140 cm / 3.9-4.6 ft

Thuja Orientalis 'Aurea Nana' (Dwarf Golden Oriental Thuja) - 120-140 cm / 3.9-4.6 ft

A delightful dwarf conifer that grows from an oval shape to a neat and tidy teardrop. The bright yellow-green leaves of the Dwarf Golden Oriental Thuja turn to an orangey-bronze as winter arrives. This a lovely small shrub that will provide a solid block of colour to rockeries and borders. It also produces small grey cones as its flower. Its origins in the mountains of China give Oriental Thuja the resilience to withstand the British weather. All conifers are known for their hardiness and resilience against the elements. We often think of them being heavily covered with snow during the winter, but they can look equally as bold and impressive against a bright blue summer sky. Conifers get their name from the "cones" that they produce – which come in all shapes and sizes. Conifer leaves are evergreen and will either be needle-shaped or scale-like. Latin Name: Thuja Orientalis Aurea Nana and also Platycladus Orientalis Aurea Nana English Name: Dwarf Golden Oriental Thuja Cedar, Miller's Gold Thuja, Golden Ball Arborvitae Species: Conifer Genus: Thuja (part of the Cedrus/Cedar and Cupressaceae/Cypress families) Foliage Type: Evergreen. Thuja Orientalis Pyramidalis Aurea (Golden Pyramidal Thuja) - 300-350 cm / 9.8-11.5 ft

Thuja Orientalis Pyramidalis Aurea (Golden Pyramidal Thuja) - 300-350 cm / 9.8-11.5 ft

A bright and cheery Thuja Plant with dense yellow-green foliage. The thick foliage of the Golden Pyramid Thuja is fresh green in its youth and matures to a golden-yellow in the summer/autumn, before gaining a reddish-bronze glow in the winter. As you can see from the photos here on GardenPlantsOnline, its natural shape is actually a pointed-oval – a lot narrower than the triangular pyramid that its name implies. This is a very low-maintenance tree that needs almost no attention once it has established itself and acclimatised to your garden. All conifers are known for their hardiness and resilience against the elements. We often think of them being heavily covered with snow during the winter, but they can look equally as bold and impressive against a bright blue summer sky. Acer Negundo 'Flamingo' (Box Elder 'Flamingo') - Standard - 18 - 20 (cm)

Acer Negundo 'Flamingo' (Box Elder 'Flamingo') - Standard - 18 - 20 (cm)

A variegated form of the Box Elder, the variegated pinnate leaves consist of green centers splashed at the edges with salmon pink, that later turns cream. Leaf stems are a dark, pinkish red whilst the pale grey of the branches look attractive in winter. Prone to shooting from the base it can be grown as a large shrub, though its ultimate shape will be oval. It will grow well in full sun or light shade and can cope with most soils though it likes free draining ground. The best displays of foliage occur when it has been pruned back hard in the winter Make sure to follow the advice of pruning group 1. Like many variegated trees it is prone to reversion, so any branches with purely green leaves will need to be removed completely. The variegated leaves of this tree make it a nice plant to use to contrast with darker plants. It can look very nice when planted with blue conifers such as Cupressus Arizonica Fastigiata. The hardiness is about H6 making it very durable for the British climate. Only shelter in extreme cold conditions. The plant is prone to potential pests and diseases so keep a look out for those. Latin Name: Acer Negundo Flamingo English Name: Box Elder, Ash-Leaved Maple Species: Sapindaceae Genus: Acer Foliage Type: Deciduous Foliage: Green Flower: Pink Flowering Period: Spring Suggested Location: Outdoor. Suggested Soil Type: Moist but well-drained. Clay, Loam, Sand, Chalk Suggested Exposure to Sunlight: Full Sunlight or Partial Shade. Suggested Exposure to Weather: Sheltered.
