Acer Palmatum Ueno yama. Japanese Maple Ueno Homare for Sale

Acer Palmatum Ueno yama. Japanese Maple Ueno Homare for Sale

Acer Palmatum Ueno Yama is a lesser-known acer of the palmatum family that originates from Chinese, Japanese and Korean regions. It’s alternatively called Acer Palmatum Ueno Homare, Ueno-No-Homare or the Japanese Maple Ueno Yama. Most Japanese maples produce seasonal colour in spectacular blazes, but the Ueno Yama begins theirs earlier than most, being one of the first to leaf. These early five-lobed leaves dazzle in a bright yellow hue with orange edging and bring a welcome change from the dull winter landscape. As summer approaches the leaves transform into a bright green often retaining their orange edge. During autumn the foliage gradually lights up into a spectacular bright orange-yellow display. Acer Palmatum Ueno Homare Hardiness LevelsThe Japanese Maple Ueno Yama is hardy in all UK climates, and is one of the easiest to care for. It is surprisingly tolerant of most garden soils but will flourish best in moist, well-drained earth that is more acidic than alkaline. When kept out of water-logged conditions an Acer Palmatum Ueno Yama will easily withstand sub-zero temperatures. How To Use Acer Palmatum Ueno HomareAcer Palmatum Ueno Homare is a compact upright tree that works best as a specimen plant, particularly when positioned so evening sun can light up its spectacular foliage. It also does well in containers, and this gives you the added benefit of moving them to the best evening sun spots, or even next to a pond which will reflect the foliage. An upright growth habit makes a Japanese Maple Ueno Yama suitable for small to medium-sized gardens and adds interest at tricky mid-height areas. Its final height can measure up to five feet by three feet wide. How To Care For Your Japanese Maple Ueno YamaAlthough Acer Palmatum Uemo Yama is more forgiving than other Japanese maples, young foliage may be damaged by dry soil or scorched by too much exposure to sun or frost, so it’s best to plant them in dappled shade. All Japanese Acers need some protection from the wind to retain their spectacular foliage, so shelter your young Ueno Yama from cold gusts too. When planting Japanese Maple Ueno Yama in your garden ensure the soil is free-draining. In containers you should use loam-based free draining compost. Re-pot every two to three years in April or September. During the winter Japanese maples in pots may suffer root damage from harsh frosts, but you can avoid this by placing bubble-wrap around the container.Pruning is not necessary, but remove crossed stems or broken branches in autumn after the foliage has dropped. You may want to turn that dropped foliage into leaf-mould compost for spring feeding. The Acer Palmatum Uemo Yama is an eye-catching, vigorous and incredibly hardy investment for a medium-sized garden that needs a splash of mid-height colour.

Crataegus Monogyna Stricta Hawthorn Stricta for Sale Online

Crataegus Monogyna Stricta or Hawthorn StrictaSynonymous with Crataegus Monogyna Fastigiata, Crataegus Monogyna Stricta is an upright form of hawthorn with erect branches and columnar habit. Tough and adaptable, this attractive, ornamental small tree is an excellent candidate for growing in exposed places, as a hedge or a screen. The hybrid cultivar Stricta is a variety of the native common hawthorn Crataegus Monogyna. Borne in umbels, they attract pollinators and are followed by small fruit, better known as haws. The fruit ripens to deep red in the autumn and is a favourite with birds. Exposed locations, harsh winds, and salt sprays will not bother this tree, which is why it is considered to be a good choice for coastal gardens.Originating from a European native, the Crataegus Monogyna Stricta variety is well accustomed to our climate. Fully hardy in the United Kingdom, this columnar tree will fare well even during harsher winters and strong frosts. With an average growth rate, Hawthorn Stricta can grow to be up to 10 metres high and approximately 3 metres wide. Magnolia Grandiflora Little Gem for Sale Online UK & Ireland

Magnolia Grandiflora Little GemThe appeal of the magnolia tree is timeless.  The Magnolia Grandiflora Little Gem is a dwarf tree version of the classic large and sprawling magnolia grandiflora. The tree’s petite compact growth makes it an ideal choice of ornamental evergreen tree for a small garden setting. These Magnolia Little Gems have been trained as three-quarter standard trees on clear stems. The Magnolia Grandiflora Little Gem features large, evergreen leaves that look eye-catching year round. The underside of each shiny dark green leaf is a burnished red shade. Once per year the tree produces huge, fragrant, white flowers in abundance. It is not uncommon for the tree to start producing flowers when it stands only 90 centimeters tall. Flowers appear in the summer and often persist for two months or more. After flowering, the tree produces cone-like fruiting clusters that are adorned with clusters of bright red seeds. Many people consider the cones of the tree to be every bit as visually appealing as the tree’s flowers.   Its compact size and slow growth habits makes it ideal to grow as a specimen tree or as part of a hedge. It can also be trained to grow as an espalier against a fence or wall. The tree has even become a popular container tree to be placed around patios, pools, decks and other space-conserving locations. When fully grown, the Magnolia Grandiflora Little Gem attains a height of around 10 meters with a width of around 3 to 4 meters. However, full growth is often not attained until the tree is 30 plus years old. Plant the Magnolia Grandiflora Little Gem in full sun for best growth. It flourishes in moist, rich, peat-filled soils. The tree does not tolerate drought and prefers evenly moist soil conditions. Ideally, the tree’s best growth is attained when it is planted in slightly acidic soil. However, it will tolerate clay soil but its growth habits might be stunted or slowed.  Even though the Magnolia Grandiflora Little Gem flourishes in heat and humidity, don’t let its affinity for warmth fool you. The tree can tolerate temperatures that dip to minus 17 Celsius for as short time. The Magnolia Grandiflora Little Gem requires very little care to flourish. It benefits from an application of fertilizer in the spring and it will tolerate springtime pruning. A tough hardy tree, the Magnolia Grandiflora Little Gem is a welcome addition to any garden. Its year round beauty makes it a focal point wherever it is planted.

Pinus Nigra Green Rocket. Black Pine Green Rocket Conifer

Pinus Nigra Green Rocket or Black Pine Green RocketPinus Nigra Green Rocket, a new variety of Black Pine, is best known for its lovely vivid dark green needles and elegant columnar habit. Fairly compact even when mature, this cultivar can be used for hedging, both in small and large gardens. Pinus Nigra or the Black Pine family originates from the mountains of Southern Europe, North West Africa and Turkey. The Pinus Nigra family earned its name because of its dark brown, almost black bark, and Black Pine Green Rocket shares that trait with its close relatives. This particular cultivar has a narrow, upright habit that is ideal for hedges and sophisticated borders. The needles are a lovely shade of dark green, long, arranged in pairs. Foliage is stiff and upright with a conspicuous, large bud borne atop it. For best performance in the garden, this striking conifer should be planted in a well-drained, nutrient-rich soil in full sun. It tolerates both exposed and sheltered locations. However, snow can distort its columnar shape, so in case this cultivar is grown in an exposed spot, tie the branches with a rope to prevent damage from snow heaps.Thriving even in the severest European climates, Pinus Nigra Green Rocket is fully hardy in the United Kingdom. This conifer is resistant to frost, strong and harsh winds, as well as urban pollution, making it a great choice for coastal and city gardens alike. With an average growth rate, Black Pine Green Rocket will reach a height of 2 metres with a width of only 50 centimetres, in a period of 10 years.
