Essential Evidence-Based Teaching Strategies - Garry Hornby - Bog - Springer Nature Switzerland AG - Plusbog.dk

Essential Evidence-Based Teaching Strategies - Garry Hornby - Bog - Springer Nature Switzerland AG - Plusbog.dk

This book examines evidence-based practices that facilitate effective teaching to ensure optimum educational achievement for school-age students. It identifies key strategies with extensive research evidence that confirms their effectiveness in improving student outcomes. The book offers guidelines for teachers to use in distinguishing between strategies that are evidence-based and those with little or no supporting evidence. It describes common instructional strategies often found in schools despite having little evidence to support their effectiveness. In addition, the book identifies eight key evidence-based teaching practices that can be directly implemented by classroom teachers, reviews the theoretical and research base of each of these strategies, and provides guidelines for special and general education teachers on how to apply them most effectively, with links to video examples of their use in classrooms. The text also examines common barriers to the use of evidence-based practices in schools. It explores implications for teacher education, focusing on training educators to identify and implement evidence-based strategies effectively, avoiding those lacking evidence, even if they are popular in schools. Essential Evidence-Based Teaching Strategies is a must-have resource for researchers, professionals, and graduate students in educational psychology, child and school psychology, and social work who are interested in learning about and implementing effective teaching methods that improve student engagement and academic achievement, strengthen social-emotional learning, and reduce school dropout rates.

Ethnopsychology - Rolando Diaz Loving - Bog - Springer Nature Switzerland AG - Plusbog.dk

Ethnopsychology - Rolando Diaz Loving - Bog - Springer Nature Switzerland AG - Plusbog.dk

This book presents an overview of Mexican ethnopsychology, an original theoretical and methodological approach that seeks to complement the mainstream psychological science - based on universal principles, processes and constructs - with scientific methods to study the idiosyncratic features and behaviors typical of specific cultural groups. It proposes a historic-bio-psycho-socio-cultural theoretical model to describe research findings of social, psychological, collective and individual phenomena. Psychology is at a crossroads of years of research with stress on internal validity and little attention to contextual and cultural variables. It becomes fundamental to continue on the internal validity track but at the same time incorporate external validity issues. The growth of indigenous movements and data allows for a profound evaluation of the extents to which apparent universal phenomena are truly universal, and to what extent they are idiosyncratic manifestations of the cultures where the mainstream research is conducted. Mexican ethnopsychologists have been following this path for decades, since the pioneer work of Rogelio Díaz-Guerrero, but until now little has been published in English about this innovative theoretical approach. Ethnopsychology - Pieces from the Mexican Research Gallery fills this gap by presenting the international community an overview of Mexican ethnopsychology and thus providing a useful tool to behavioral, social and health scientists interested in understanding how culture shapes both collective and individual behaviors.

Applied Ethics for Entrepreneurial Success: Recommendations for the Developing World - - Bog - Springer Nature Switzerland AG - Plusbog.dk

Applied Ethics for Entrepreneurial Success: Recommendations for the Developing World - - Bog - Springer Nature Switzerland AG - Plusbog.dk

This proceedings volume examines the impact of ethics on business and entrepreneurship predominantly from the Romanian perspective. Featuring selected contributions from the 2018 Griffiths School of Management Annual Conference (GMSAC) on Business, Entrepreneurship and Ethics, this book investigates the impact of different social phenomena have upon the understanding and applicability of entrepreneurship and ethics, providing lessons for emerging economies. In emerging economies, entrepreneurship is often times associated with a negative image and entrepreneurs are seen in an unfavorable light. This is due in part to the fact that from a superficial perspective, entrepreneurial behavior does not always amalgamate well with ethical behavior. Entrepreneurship is often perceived as "success at all costs" with little regard to the interest of stakeholder and, sometimes, even the law. On the other hand, ethics are often viewed as metaphysical, having little to do with business, organizational and financial success. In actuality, ethical decisions are a significant part of an organization and ethical behaviors impact organizational culture. Beyond the moral aspects associated with business ethics, companies that practice ethical demeanor are more profitable because investors, employees and consumers seek out companies that engage in fair practices. Featuring contributions on topics such as medical ethics, business education, consumer behavior and governance, this book provides invaluable research and tools for students, professors, practitioners and policy makers in the field s of business, management, public administration and sociology.

Beginner's Guide to Kotlin Programming - John Hunt - Bog - Springer Nature Switzerland AG - Plusbog.dk

Beginner's Guide to Kotlin Programming - John Hunt - Bog - Springer Nature Switzerland AG - Plusbog.dk

This textbook assumes very little knowledge of programming so whether you have dabbled with a little JavaScript, played with a bit of Python, written Java or have virtually no programming experience at all you will find that it is for you. The first part of the book introduces Kotlin program structures as well as conditional flow of control features such as if and when expressions as well as iteration loops such as for, while and do-while. Subsequent chapters explain how functions are implemented in Kotlin and introduce concepts from functional programming such as higher order functions and curried functions. The second part focusses on object oriented programming techniques, these include classes, inheritance, abstraction and interfaces. The third part presents container data types such as Arrays, and collections including Lists, Sets and Maps and the fourth part considers concurrency and parallelism using Kotlin coroutines. The book concludes with an introduction to Android mobile application development using Kotlin. Clear steps are provided explaining how to set up your environment and get started writing your own Kotlin programs. An important aspect of the book is teaching by example and there are many examples presented throughout the chapters. These examples are supported by a public GitHub repository that provides complete working code as well as sample solutions to the chapter exercises. This helps illustrate how to write well structured, clear, idiomatic Kotlin to build real applications.
