Smart Card Security - Megha Quamara - Bog - Taylor & Francis Ltd - Plusbog.dk

Smart Card Security: Applications, Attacks, and Countermeasures provides an overview of smart card technology and explores different security attacks and countermeasures associated with it. It covers the origin of smart cards, types of smart cards, and how they work. It discusses security attacks associated with hardware, software, data, and users that are a part of smart card–based systems. The book starts with an introduction to the concept of smart cards and continues with a discussion of the different types of smart cards in use today, including various aspects regarding their configuration, underlying operating system, and usage. It then discusses different hardware- and software-level security attacks in smart card–based systems and applications and the appropriate countermeasures for these security attacks. It then investigates the security attacks on confidentiality, integrity, and availability of data in smart card–based systems and applications, including unauthorized remote monitoring, communication protocol exploitation, denial of service (DoS) attacks, and so forth, and presents the possible countermeasures for these attacks. The book continues with a focus on the security attacks against remote user authentication mechanisms in smart card–based applications and proposes a possible countermeasure for these attacks. Then it covers different communication standards for smart card–based applications and discusses the role of smart cards in various application areas as well as various open-source tools for the development and maintenance of smart card–based systems and applications. The final chapter explains the role of blockchain technology for securing smart card–based transactions and quantum cryptography for designing secure smart card–based algorithms. Smart Card Security: Applications, Attacks, and Countermeasures provides you with a broad overview of smart card technology and its various applications.

Acquiring Card Payments - Ilya Dubinsky - Bog - Taylor & Francis Ltd - Plusbog.dk

This book delves into the essential concepts and technologies of acquiring systems. It fills the gap left by manuals and standards and provides practical knowledge and insight that allow engineers to navigate systems as well as the massive tomes containing standards and manuals. Dedicated to card acquiring exclusively, the book covers: - Payment cards and protocols - EMV contact chip and contactless transactions - Disputes, arbitration, and compliance - Data security standards in the payment card industry - Validation algorithms - Code tables - Basic cryptography - Pin block formats and algorithms When necessary the book discusses issuer-side features or standards insomuch as they are required for the sake of completeness. For example, protocols such as EMV 3-D Secure are not covered to the last exhaustive detail. Instead, this book provides an overview, justification, and logic behind each message of the protocol and leaves the task of listing all fields and their formats to the standard document itself. The chapter on EMV contact transactions is comprehensive to fully explain this complex topic in order to provide a basis for understanding EMV contactless transaction. A guide to behind-the-scenes business processes, relevant industry standards, best practices, and cryptographic algorithms, Acquiring Card Payments covers the essentials so readers can master the standards and latest developments of card payment systems and technology

PCI Compliance - James Adamson - Bog - Taylor & Francis Ltd - Plusbog.dk

The Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS) is now in its 18th year, and it is continuing to dominate corporate security budgets and resources. If you accept, process, transmit, or store payment card data branded by Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover, or JCB (or their affiliates and partners), you must comply with this lengthy standard. Personal data theft is at the top of the list of likely cybercrimes that modern-day corporations must defend against. In particular, credit or debit card data is preferred by cybercriminals as they can find ways to monetize it quickly from anywhere in the world. Is your payment processing secure and compliant? The new Fifth Edition of PCI Compliance has been revised to follow the new PCI DSS version 4.0, which is a complete overhaul to the standard. Also new to the Fifth Edition are: additional case studies and clear guidelines and instructions for maintaining PCI compliance globally, including coverage of technologies such as Kubernetes, cloud, near-field communication, point-to-point encryption, Mobile, Europay, MasterCard, and Visa. This is the first book to address the recent updates to PCI DSS and the only book you will need during your PCI DSS journey. The real-world scenarios and hands-on guidance will be extremely valuable, as well as the community of professionals you will join after buying this book. Each chapter has how-to guidance to walk you through implementing concepts and real-world scenarios to help you grasp how PCI DSS will affect your daily operations. This book provides the information that you need in order to understand the current PCI Data Security Standards and the ecosystem that surrounds them, how to effectively implement security on network infrastructure in order to be compliant with the credit card industry guidelines, and help you protect sensitive and personally identifiable information. Our book puts security first as a way to enable compliance. - Completely updated to follow the current PCI DSS version 4.0 - Packed with tips to develop and implement an effective PCI DSS and cybersecurity strategy - Includes coverage of new and emerging technologies such as Kubernetes, mobility, and 3D Secure 2.0 - Both authors have broad information security backgrounds, including extensive PCI DSS experience

A New Theory of Conscientious Objection in Medicine - Robert F. Card - Bog - Taylor & Francis Ltd - Plusbog.dk

A New Theory of Conscientious Objection in Medicine - Robert F. Card - Bog - Taylor & Francis Ltd - Plusbog.dk

This book argues that a conscientiously objecting medical professional should receive an exemption only if the grounds of an objector’s refusal are reasonable. It defends a detailed, contextual account of public reasonability suited for healthcare, which builds from the overarching concept of Rawlsian public reason. The author analyzes the main competing positions and maintains that these other views fail precisely due to their systematic inattention to the grounding reasons behind a conscientious objection; he argues that any such view is plausible to the extent that it mimics the ‘reason-giving requirement’ for conscience objections defended in this work. Only reasonable objections can defeat the prior professional obligation to assign primacy to patient well-being, therefore one who refuses a patient’s request for a legally available, medically indicated, and safe service must be able to explain the grounds of their objection in terms understandable to other citizens within the public institutional structure of medicine. The book further offers a novel policy proposal to deploy the Reasonability View: establishing conscientious objector status in medicine. It concludes that the Reasonability View is a viable and attractive position in this debate. A New Theory of Conscientious Objection in Medicine: Justification and Reasonability will be of interest to researchers and advanced students working in bioethics, medical ethics, and philosophy of medicine, as well as thinkers interested in the intersections between law, medical humanities, and philosophy.
