Reading Biblical Greek - Constantine R. Campbell - Bog - Zondervan - Plusbog.dk

Reading Biblical Greek - Constantine R. Campbell - Bog - Zondervan - Plusbog.dk

Reading Biblical Greek introduces first-year Greek students to the essential information needed to optimize their grasp of the fundamentals of the Greek language—no more and no less—enabling them to read and translate the Greek of the New Testament as soon as possible. The learning approach in Reading Biblical Greek revolves around three core elements: grammar, vocabulary, and reading & translation. - Grammar. The grammar consists of micro-lessons, which break up information in small, digestible chunks. Each micro-lesson addresses a single point. This arrangement makes for easy comprehension and review. It also allows the teacher to pace the material based on its difficulty and ability of their students. New learning is incremental and recursive—each new piece builds on and reinforces prior learning. Lessons are structured in three columns: 1) Introducing new topic; 2) Material to be memorized; and 3) Examples and exercises. - Vocabulary. As an essential complement to grammar, vocabulary is introduced at strategic points and is arranged first by what the student has been learning in grammar, and then by frequency. The vocabulary lists are collated at the back of the book for easy access. The first 13 vocabulary lists are keyed to Mark 1-4 to help students to integrate their vocabulary learning with a “real” Greek text. - Reading & Translation. The goal of this grammar is to enable students to read and translate the Greek of the New Testament. Thus, the content is structured and tied to a specific Greek text to enable reading as soon as possible. The student will have read and translated the whole of Mark 1–4 by the end of the course. The accompanying Reading Biblical Greek Workbook is a vital part of the approach. It breaks up the text of Mark 1–4 into manageable portions and provides vocabulary and grammatical assistance as required. While Reading Biblical Greek only introduces students to information that is essential to grasp of the fundamentals of the Greek language, it is informed by the latest and best of Greek and linguistic scholarship, enabling students to move seamlessly to further study.

The Case for Miracles - Lee Strobel - Bog - Zondervan - Plusbog.dk

The Case for Miracles - Lee Strobel - Bog - Zondervan - Plusbog.dk

New York Times bestselling author Lee Strobel trains his investigative sights on the hot-button question: is it really credible to believe God intervenes supernaturally in people''s lives today? This provocative book starts with an unlikely interview in which America''s foremost skeptic builds a seemingly persuasive case against the miraculous. But then Strobel travels the country to quiz scholars to see whether they can offer solid answers to atheist objections. Along the way, he encounters astounding accounts of healings and other phenomena that simply cannot be explained away by naturalistic causes. The book features the results of exclusive new scientific polling that shows miracle accounts are much more common than people think. What''s more, Strobel delves into the most controversial question of all: what about miracles that don''t happen? If God can intervene in the world, why doesn''t he do it more often to relieve suffering? Many American Christians are embarrassed by the supernatural, not wanting to look odd or extreme to their neighbors. Yet, The Case for Miracles shows not only that the miraculous is possible, but that God still does intervene in our world in awe-inspiring ways. Here’s a unique book that examines all sides of this issue and comes away with a passionate defense for God''s divine action in lives today. Also available: The Case for Miracles Spanish edition, kids'' edition, and student edition.

The Sacred Overlap - J.r. Briggs - Bog - Zondervan - Plusbog.dk

The Sacred Overlap - J.r. Briggs - Bog - Zondervan - Plusbog.dk

The widening of political, racial, generational, and religious differences leads too often to an "us vs. them" mentality. The Sacred Overlap communicates a refreshing vision that embraces tension and shows us how to live in radical love and faithfulness between the extremes that isolate and divide people. The gospels display how Jesus was committed to crossing the either/or waters of the cultural and societal wars of his day. His miracles and parables often broke or ignored religious and political lines that seemed all important. He comforted the disturbed and disturbed the comfortable. Using Jesus'' example, J. R. Briggs offers a fresh and relevant understanding of evangelism and discipleship in our present time of extreme polarization. Without sacrificing biblical integrity, The Sacred Overlap is a joyful exploration of the complexity of life in the peace of Christ. With careful discernment, Briggs: - Shares creative ways to engage with God''s mission of ministering to those who are intrigued by Jesus but turned off by church. - Explores what it means to be joyful in the midst of heart-wrenching pain and earthly suffering. - Models what it means to maintain a posture of convicted civility which emphasizes both grace and truth. The Sacred Overlap helps readers see how Christians are called to live with their feet firmly planted in two different worlds—in both heaven and earth—living naturally with both the sacred and the ordinary. Only then can a Christian be a faithful witness and disciple of Jesus.

Now that her second book is due, she’s locked in fear. Can she repeat her earlier success or is she a fraud who has run out of inspiration? With pressure mounting from her publisher, Tenley is weighted with writer’s block. But when her estranged mother calls asking Tenley to help her through chemotherapy, she packs up for Florida where she meets handsome furniture designer Jonas Sullivan and discovers the story her heart’s been missing. A century earlier, another woman wrote at the same desk with hopes and fears of her own. Born during the Gilded Age, Birdie Shehorn is the daughter of the old money Knickerbockers. Under the strict control of her mother, her every move is decided ahead of time, even whom she’ll marry. But Birdie has dreams she doesn’t know how to realize. She wants to tell stories, write novels, make an impact on the world. When she discovers her mother has taken extreme measures to manipulate her future, she must choose between submission and security or forging a brand new way all on her own. Tap Code - Carlyle S. Harris - Bog - Zondervan - Plusbog.dk

Tap Code - Carlyle S. Harris - Bog - Zondervan - Plusbog.dk

Discover never-before-told details of POW underground operations during the Vietnam War told through one airman''s inspiring story of true love, honor, and courage. Air Force pilot Captain Carlyle "Smitty" Harris was shot down over Vietnam on April 4, 1965 and taken to the infamous Hoa Lo prison--nicknamed the "Hanoi Hilton." For the next eight years, Smitty and hundreds of other American POWs--including John McCain and George "Bud" Day--suffered torture, solitary confinement, and unimaginable abuse. It was there that Smitty covertly taught many other POWs the Tap Code--an old, long-unused method of communication from World War II. Using the code, they could softly tap messages of encouragement to lonely neighbors and pass along resistance policies from their leaders. The code quickly became a lifeline during their internment. It helped the prisoners boost morale, stay unified, communicate the chain of command, and prevail over a brutal enemy. Meanwhile, back home in the United States, Harris''s wife, Louise, raised their three children alone, unsure of her husband''s fate for seven long years. One of the first POW wives of the Vietnam War, she became a role model for other military wives by advocating for herself and her children in her husband''s absence. Told through both Smitty''s and Louise''s voices, Tap Code shares the riveting true story of: - Ingenuity under pressure - Strength and dignity in the face of a frightening enemy - The hope, faith, and resolve necessary to endure even the darkest circumstances Praise for Tap Code : " Tap Code is an incredible story about two American heroes. Col. "Smitty" Harris and his wife, Louise, epitomize the definition of commitment--to God, to country, and to family. This tale of extreme perseverance will restore your faith in the human spirit." --Brigadier General John Nichols, USAF "The incomprehensibly long ordeal of the Harris family is agonizing. Their love, faith, loyalty, and courage epitomize all that is good about America." --Lt. Col. Orson Swindle, USMC (ret.), POW, Hanoi, 11/11/1966 to 3/4/1973

Deep Peace - Todd D. Hunter - Bog - Zondervan - Plusbog.dk

Deep Peace - Todd D. Hunter - Bog - Zondervan - Plusbog.dk

Experience deep wholeness in your life that springs forth from the peace of God. We live in a fearful, anxiety-driven age where the problems and challenges of the world assault us from every direction and every media source, and they far exceed our abilities to respond to them. The sense of desperation that often comes of this leads to discord and violence: from bitter, cutting remarks to the atrocities of war; from pervasive racism to knee-jerk micro-aggressions. It contributes to our current, peace-bankrupt social discourse, leading to patterns of dismissing, dividing from, condemning, or hating people. But what if the root of these problems is not found out there, in the situations, the information or misinformation of what''s happening in the world? What if they come from here: in our minds, hearts, thought-life, and emotions? In Deep Peace , Todd Hunter, founding pastor of Holy Trinity Anglican Church, analyzes the anxiety and desperation of our current moment and brings it before a biblical framework of profound peace. This book provides practices to help Christians value and actively seek peace, becoming people of reconciliation in ordinary life. Deep Peace : - Uncovers the ten things that are most harmful to peace in a person''s life. - Unpacks the "Trinity of Peace" found in the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit and how we can find rest in each person of the Trinity. - Reveals spiritual practices that will teach you how to pursue an inner calm and become the kind of person that meets conflict with love and renounces fear. Deep Peace is a timely benediction that offers a practical and spiritual guide to recenter believers in the peace of Christ.
