Danmarks dåbsattest i Jelling. Sådan kender vi runerne. Men runer handlede ikke kun om monumenter, kristendom og kongerige. Folk skrev også om krig, sex og sladder. Og runerne havde allerede 800 år på bagen, da Harald Blåtand satte sit gigantiske monument i 965. De latinske bogstaver kom ind i det danske rige med kristendommen, men nordboerne holdt fast i runerne, og det gør vi faktisk endnu. Tænk blot på symbolet for Bluetooth på mobiltelefoner. Vi bruger også runer til tatoveringer, på fodboldtrøjer og i tvserier, så de sidste runer er ikke ristet endnu. Lisbeth M.
