Ultra Wideband Demystified Technologies, Applications, and System Design Considerations - Manoj Choudhary - Bog - River Publishers - Plusbog.dk

Ultra Wideband Demystified: Technologies, Applications, and System Design Considerations is a comprehensive text for emerging high speed short range wireless technology of Ultra Wideband. It provides background concepts and information on evolving standards and their development efforts, radio technology, practical system design/implementation and real life applications. The book also deliberates on the regulatory frameworks, security aspects and power management techniques essential to Ultra Wideband usage in consumer devices like portable handheld mobile devices. Important topics as UWB common radio usage for adapting to different existing/new applications and upper layer protocols like Wireless USB are also discussed.ContentsAbstract :• Introduction to Short Range Wireless;• Introduction to Ultra Wideband;• Evolution of UWB Standards;• Physical Layer;• Medium Access Layer;• Advanced MAC Features;• UWB System Design;• Adaptation to Multiple Applications;• Wireless USB;• Converging Marketplace; ReferencesForeword"This book is very timely, unique and fresh in its approach, coming from engineers who have been involved in system design and standard development stages. In particular, the book stands out amongst other literature available because it highlights system designer''s viewpoints and because of it covering the whole gamut of technology from practitioner''s viewpoints ... I would strongly recommend this book to System Designers, Practicing Engineers, Researchers in Academia and Industry, Product Marketing and Technical strategists for a comprehensive reading on the emerging UWB technologies. I commend Sunil Jogi and Manoj Choudhary for a very timely contribution."Bart Vertenten Chief Architect Connectivity, NXP Semiconductors

Managing Library Technology - Carson Block - Bog - Rowman & Littlefield - Plusbog.dk

Managing Library Technology introduces library workers (including non-technical managers, tech administrators and even “accidental technologists”) to core concepts in technology management and provides strategies that will enable them to master the basics of library tech. The content of the book is taken from the author’s popular American Library Association -approved Certified Public Library Administrator course, “Management of Technology,” and is geared to the needs of all kinds of libraries. The book contains easy-to-follow exercises and tools that have been tested in real-world situations with students as they tackled their own evaluation, planning and management challenges. Readers are also given a roadmap to create a technology plan for their library—even if they have no direct technology background themselves. This book helps library workers understand the underpinnings of technology and how to powerfully manage tech to serve patrons and staff alike. Readers will learn:·How libraries fit into the overall technology market·Strategies to future-proof library technology efforts·Approaches to technology planning that stick – and strategies to keep the plan on track·Skills to understand technology investments by understanding the total costs of ownership and the specialized library return on technological investment·How to collect and use useful data and statistics without being overwhelmed·How to stay current, knowledgeable and comfortable with rapid technological change

Unconventional Methodology in Organization and Management Research - - Bog - Oxford University Press - Plusbog.dk

Unconventional Methodology in Organization and Management Research - - Bog - Oxford University Press - Plusbog.dk

Most researchers in organization and management studies stick to two or three traditional research methods like surveys and interviews. Sticking with the familiar is seen as a safe bet, and innovation is discouraged by academic incentives and rewards. But research participants are now suffering from ''survey fatigue'', and using the same old methods runs the risk of generating the same old findings. This book describes twelve unconventional methodologies in organization and management research. These include unconventional research settings and data sources, unconventional research designs and data collection methods, unconventional analytic approaches, and designs and methods that exploit new technology developments. The aim is to encourage dialogue and experimentation with regard to the development of innovative, unconventional approaches to organization and management research. Several commentators have criticized the way in which research methods have become more formulaic, and have argued for greater diversity in research approaches. The methodological perspective that the we adopt shapes our interpretation of the information that we gather. Different methods generate different kinds of information, leading to different ways of understanding the phenomena that we are investigating. Our methods influence our styles of theorizing, ways of thinking and reasoning, and forms of writing and reporting research. This book will be of value to academic researchers in organization and management studies, Doctoral candidates, and Masters students on MBA and similar programmes.
