Tilia Cordata Greenspire AGM is also known as the Small Leaf Lime or ... Little Leaved Linden Lime trees are native to the UK and have been residents here for thousands of years. In fact, there are still some present day specimens known to be up to 2000 years old growing here in the UK. Linden Trees are a familiar sight in parks and urban landscapes, chosen for their beautiful shape and foliage colour. Tilia Cordata Greenspire is an upright, deciduous, full standard tree with an almost conical shaped crown which is smaller than the native Linden tree. The foliage of Tilia Cordata Greenspire is heart shaped and vibrant green on the upperside with a paler underside and a serrated edge.  During the summer, creamy clusters of small flowers appear which can be used for making herbal tea, they have the sweetest scent and are a magnet for bees and other pollinators. Small Leaf Lime tree flowers are self-pollinating and eventually give way to fruits which contain the seeds, these are then propelled by wind pollination using a single 'wing' attached to the seed. Tilia Cordata Greenspire is an excellent specimen tree for almost any garden, they grow to max height at maturity of 10-13 metres with a spread of 7-9metres and tolerate urban environments very well.Lime trees are perfect candidates for pleaching, espallier training and are very often grown in avenues.
