Acer Palmatum Skeeters Broom. Japanese Maple Skeeters Broom

Acer Palmatum Skeeter’s Broom or Japanese Maple Skeeter’s BroomThis deciduous Acer Palmatum Skeeter’s Broom is a dwarf red-leaved variety of Japanese Maple introduced by the Raraflora Nursery in Pennsylvania. The Skeeter’s Broom cultivar was derived from Acer Palmatum Bloodgood. While it is similar to other dwarf red cultivars that count Bloodgood in their lineage, it has some noticeably different characteristics that set it apart. Acer Palmatum Skeeter’s Broom has deeply lobed leaves that are larger than other Bloodgood cultivars. The leaves emerge a bright red colour in the spring. Over the summer months, the leaves fade to a greenish burgundy. When autumn arrives, the foliage turns brilliant red and orange hues. It holds its striking red colour well throughout the growing season. Height and Spread of  Acer Palmatum Skeeter’s Broom Japanese Maple Skeeter’s Broom grows to a height and a width of 2 metres. How Hardy is the Acer Palmatum Skeeter’s Broom?Japanese Maple Skeeter’s Broom is hardy to a UK plant hardiness zone 4. It can withstand temperatures of -10 to -5 C. It will grow throughout most of the UK but may have problems in central or northerly areas. How to Use the Acer Palmatum Skeeter's Broom This brilliantly coloured dwarf Japanese Acer is relatively low maintenance. It makes an excellent choice for mass plantings, in rock gardens, japanese gardens and for general garden use. Plant it somewhere that onlookers can admire its strikingly brilliant hues. How to Care for the Acer Palmatum Skeeter’s BroomThis dwarf Japanese Acer will live for 50 or more years. Choose a location that provides full sun or partial shade for the best foliage colours. The shrub is not particular about soil pH and will grow well in virtually any area. Pick a well-draining planting site. Once planted, keep the roots moist but not overly wet to encourage abundant growth. It can be grown with ease in pots and containers. Prune the shrub during dormancy to maintain its overall appearance and size.

Acer Palmatum Dissectum Flavescens Japanese Maple Flavescens

Acer Palmatum Dissectum Flavescens Japanese Maple Flavescens

Acer Palmatum Dissectum FlavescensThe Japanese Maple Flavescens (Acer Palmatum Dissectum Flavescens) is a 6-8 foot small, ornamental Acer tree that looks beautiful in any landscape garden. It is a member of the dissectum group of acers. For an acer, it has unusually bright yellow and fresh green leaves in spring and early summer. In fact, the actual name of this beautiful Acer means "yellowish”. As summer progresses, the green colour of the leaves darkens considerably. In autumn, the foliage is bright yellow and can be dramatically tinged with orange, providing a colour spectrum of golden and orange. As with all dissectum acers, the leaves are deeply lobed with 5 to 7 lobes per leaf. Although a small tree, Flavescens is a vigorous grower, its natural growth habit being pendulous and dome-shaped, as you would expect from the dissectum acers. Acer Palmatum Dissectum Flavescens is often described as having a cascading habit. It grows best in sunny patches with partial shade, and in well drained soils. After ten years of growth, you can expect this tree to measure around 8ft in height although sizes can vary.  Acer Palmatum Dissectum Flavescens is also suitable for container growing.Japanese maples have an array of stunning colours all year round and this can be incorporated in the landscape design. When determining the placement of these trees, you should think about the colour changes throughout the year and the way this will impact on the rest of the garden or landscape. What's great about the Japanese Maple is its ability to create a dramatic effect. For example, if you decide to place a Japanese Maple Flavescens on a slope, it will hang in a graceful dome, creating a cascading effect. The Japanese Maple Flavescens is a beautiful, vibrant tree that compliments any garden. It features a range of colours which vary from season to season. Upkeep is minimal due to the tree coping in many weather conditions and terrains.

It’s a perfect small to mid-size landscaping tree for exposed spots.Acer Pseudosieboldianum North Wind was bred by the Iseli Nursey in the USA. Acer Griseum Paper Bark Maple Trees To Buy Online UK & Irl

Acer Griseum Paper Bark Maple Trees To Buy Online UK & Irl

Acer Griseum, commonly known as the Paper Bark Maple is a deciduous tree that has peeling papery light brown bark. This bark looks stunning with the dark green three lobed shaped leaves that appear in early spring. In autumn, this beautiful specimen showcases a fabulous display of rich autumn colours with the leaves progressively turning yellow, orange and then deepest red.  Acer Griseum is a beautiful specimen that will add a splash of colour to your garden throughout the seasons. Even during the bleak days of winter, after the tree has lost its foliage, it still makes an interesting garden specimen because of its diverse bark that stands out in stark contrast to the landscape. Acer griseum produces an eye-catching rounded globe-shaped canopy. It has an open growth habit. As the tree ages, the bark on the trunk starts to peel in paper lengths to reveal the tree’s new cinnamon bark. In the spring months, the tree produces tiny yellow flowers that are followed by winged seeds known as ‘samara’ which the wind blows to various locations. However, the seeds produced by today’s  Acer griseum trees are normally sterile so will not produce unwanted seedlings. The Paper Bark Maple grows best in full or partial sunlight. It likes well-draining moist soil. During extreme heat it prefers additional watering. Applying a layer of mulch around the base of the tree will help keep the soil moist during the height of summer. The Acer griseum prefers acidic soil but will cope well in any well drained fertile planting site. It will tolerate clay conditions if the clay readily drains. During the spring months, fertilize with a general purpose fertilizer to promote new growth. The Acer griseum is native to China and was first introduced to Europe by seeds brought from China by Jesuit Missionaries. It was later introduced to the United States by E.H. Wilson in 1901. Mr. Wilson worked through the Arnold Arboretum.  The Paper Bark Maple has a maximum height 5m with a spread 3m over 50 years. Its small stature makes it ideal for most gardens and landscapes.
