Campsis Tagliabuana Indian Summer (Chinese Trumpet Vine) - Climbing
Commonly known as the Chinese Trumpet Vine, the Campsis is a vigorous, climbing, deciduous shrub suitable for covering large areas in a short time. It has aerial roots that cling to supports. Throughout the summer it produces the characteristic flowers in the form of wide open trumpets. Mandarin red with the throat and underside an orangey yellow, grouped together in very showy terminal panicles. The young plants do not tolerate hard winter frost. It has no special requirements in regards to soil and can even be grown in the shade, although it will flower more if planted in a sunny position. The plant itself is rated as H4 so it is tolerant to the British climate but needs to be sheltered during potential cold snaps. Stick to the guidelines of pruning group 12 for maintaining this plant. It is prone to potential diseases and pests so take this into consideration.
