Disjunction is a cyberpunk RPG game enriched with extensive elements taken from the stealth genre. The production was developed by the independent studio Ape Tribe Games, and was released by Sold Out.
Disjunction takes us back to 2048. Disasters and climate change, scarcity of natural resources and social and economic crises have led people to move to cities en masse. The consequence of all this was not only the overcrowding of individual metropolises, but also an avalanche increase in crime. As if that were not enough, corruption has become a serious problem at the highest levels of government and among the police, which means that most attempts to restore order and order end in failure.
The same problems are faced by futuristic New York, where we find ourselves in the skin of three heroes. The first is Frank Monroe, a private investigator who investigates the murder of his friend (and also a local social activist) - Lamar. The other is Joe "Lockjaw" Murphy, a former prisoner and boxer who tries to regain his inner peace after the mysterious death of his daughter. The third is Zhi Zhu - a hacker trying to forget about her past in the dangerous Chinatown.
It is up to us not only how the fate of the characters will turn out, but also the future of New York and the various factions that shake the city, which, as a result of our actions, may protect us, wage war with each other or be destroyed.
In Disjunction, the action was shown from a bird's eye view. During the game, we travel through more than thirty extensive levels, we talk to neutral characters and perform tasks for them (both those that push the story forward and side missions), as well as fight opponents.
The battles with the adversaries are dynamic, and during them we make use of melee or firearms and the combat abilities of the heroes. However, we can also act in hiding, sneaking behind the backs of enemies or eliminating them by surprise and getting rid of the bodies so as not to raise an unnecessary alarm (and thus - not to incur additional problems).
As we progress, we gain experience and advance to the next levels, unlocking and developing the skills of the protagonists. In addition, we increase the combat potential of the character we conduct by installing cybernetic implants and acquiring better and better equipment.
