Bombay Original London Dry Gin De geschiedenis achter het merk Bombay Sapphire gaat terug tot 1986 in Engeland, waar de gins in Warrington werden gedistilleerd. In 2014 verhuisde hun huis echter naar een speciale distilleerderij in Laverstock Mill in Hampshire. Ze distilleren hun gins met behulp van dampinfusie. Bij deze methode hangen de plantaardige ingrediënten boven de kokende alcohol, en de damp wordt doordrenkt met de smaken en aroma's van de plantaardige ingrediënten terwijl deze eroverheen gaat. Dit is een delicatere distillatiemethode en resulteert in een lichtere en meer bloemige smaak. Twee van hun vier stills (van de Carterhead-variant, genaamd Tom en Mary) dateren uit de jaren 1830. Terwijl hun Bombay Sapphire Gin, gevonden in de blauwe flessen) 10 verschillende plantaardige ingrediënten gebruikt, gebruikt hun Bombay London Dry Gin slechts 8 zorgvuldig geselecteerde plantaardige ingrediënten. Dit zijn jeneverbessen, zoethout, kassieboomschors, korianderzaad, engelwortel, citroenschil, iriswortel en amandelen. Hun recept is geïnspireerd op een origineel uit 1761. In de neus heeft dit een fris aroma, met grasachtige kruidige tonen, dennenachtige jeneverbes en hints van citroencitrus. Dit leidt tot een smaak die net zo fris is en vol klassieke, droge jeneverbessensmaken. Deze worden versterkt door een milde hint van citroen en meer kruidige tonen van koriander. Het eindigt fris en schoon en laat een aangename droogheid achter in de mond. Meer van Bombay Perfect Serve Hoewel dit goed werkt in cocktails, denken we dat dit als een echte originele klassieke droge gin de perfecte G&T is. Neem een groot/hoog glas en vul met ijs. Voeg 50 ml gin toe en giet er 150 - 200 ml van de door jou gekozen (neutrale) tonic over. Hoewel elke premium tonic goed zal werken, houden wij van East Imperial Tonic Water. Roer voorzichtig en garneer met een of twee schijfjes citroen.

Bombay Original London Dry Gin The history behind the Bombay Sapphire brand goes back to 1986 in England, where the gins were distilled in Warrington. However in 2014 their home moved to a dedicated distillery at Laverstock Mill in Hampshire. They distill their gins using vapour infusion. This method suspends the botanicals over the boiling alcohol, and the vapour is infused with the flavours and aromas of the botanicals as it passes over them. This is a more delicate method of distilling, and  results in a  lighter and more floral taste. Two of their four stills (of the carterhead variety, and named Tom and Mary) date back to the 1830's. Whereas their Bombay Sapphire Gin, found in the blue bottles) use 10 different botanicals, their Bombay London Dry Gin uses only 8 carefully selected botanicals.  These are Juniper Berries, Liquorice, Cassia Bark, Coriander Seeds, Angelica Root, Lemon Peel, Orris (Iris) root and Almonds. Their recipe takes inspiration from an original dating back  to 1761. On the nose this has a fresh aroma, with grassy herbal notes, piney juniper and hints of lemon citrus. This leads into a palate which is equally fresh and full of classic dry juniper flavours. These are enhanced by a mild hint of lemon and more herbal notes from coriander. It finishes crisp and clean leaving the palate with pleasant dryness. More from Bombay Perfect Serve Whilst this works well in cocktails, as a true original classic dry gin we think this makes the perfect G&T. Take a large / tall glass and fill with ice. Add 50ml of the gin and pour over 150 - 200ml of your chosen (neutral) tonic. Whilst any premium tonic will work well, we like East Imperial Tonic Water. Stir gently, and garnish with a slice or two of lemon.

Mediterranean lemons have been harvested early in the season, which captures the bright citrus flavours, full of zesty notes. These lemon flavours are then concentrated - creating an entirely natural fruit filled infusion. This concentrated lemon goodness is then expertly combined with their London Dry Gin to create this new blend. Whilst this refreshing zestiness ensures this is likely to be a classic during the summer, we think this flavourful gin is sure to be a hit all year round! The aroma and flavours of this gin leave nothing to the imagination - this is truly a citrus fuelled gin! It has a hint of sweetness from the ripened lemon peels and oil which is contained in them. Fully of zesty citrus flavours, this subtle sweetness helps keep it balanced. The characteristic soft spice from Bombay Sapphires London Dry then comes through, perfectly joined by a soft juniper touch. More from Bombay Sapphire Perfect Serve This is truly a versatile drink. It works exceptionally well in the mix, adding delicious lemon flavours to cocktails. Obviously, it works really well in the classic Tom Collins (from which it was inspired) However it is also very easily enjoyed simply in a Gin & Tonic, or in a lighter Gin & Soda. Take a tall glass filled with ice and add 50ml of the gin. Gently pour over 150 - 200ml of your chosen mixer (We like Fentimans Premium Indian Tonic, or Soda Water), and stir gently.
