In fact, it was inspired by a golden and aromatic elixir called Liqvor Mirabilis which was banned by the Romans! Now, they have taken inspiration from a classic, Creme Brulee dessert. They have combined the warm richness of vanilla with the sweet and bitter combination of burnt caramel. This area once produced world-class ships. The story starts in 2005 when the Russell family began planning their distillery. It took much planning, but in 2015 they found the future home of Copper Rivet Distillery and the Victorian Pump House No. 5 in Chatham Maritime was purchased. In 2016 they began distilling, but it wasn't until 2017 that they officially opened. On Friday 1st December, HRH The Princess Royal (the British Princess Anne) officially opened Copper Rivet Distillery in Chatham's Historic Docky. From that day they began selling exceptional whisky, gin and vodka. For all of their spirits, including their whisky they use only the best early harvest wheat, barley and rye. These are all grown within 20 miles of their home in Chatham, working with known farmers. Brouwerij Verhofstede Elixir Christiane Likeur The history of Brouwerij Verhofstede dates back to 1885, and Stefanie De Jaegher (who later married Julien Verhofstede). Initially Beer was brewed, but in the 1960's a move into spirits occured. Now with over 130 years of experience, and four generations of the same family they continue to create a range of delicious drinks. Verhofstede's Elixir Christiane is a delicious herbal liqueur, which has added saffron. Indeed, the colour of their Elixir Christiane is a delightful golden yellow, and this is due to the use of this spice. This is a drink which works perfectly as a drink to raise a toast with (like in the old days). It has an almost burning warmth to it - perfect as an 'in-the-moment' taste. It has a spiciness on the nose, but the flavour is velvet on the tongue. They handpick the berries and plants from this region, which are the pure raw materials within Gustav Spirits.  Their 170+ year history, attention to detail, and flavours found in their pristine landscape come together to create their delicious Gustav Spirits. The cloudberry is found around the northern hemisphere, in the North of Russia, the Nordic countries, Canada, Greenland and the north of America. It is an amber coloured fruit and quite sour in flavour. When sugar is added it has a flavour which is something like a cross between raspberries, blackberries and redcurrants.
