Edinburgh Gin 1670 (Mini) 5cl

Edinburgh Gin 1670 (Mini) 5cl

Edinburgh Gin 1670 With the natural connection between botany and distilling, this gin is a limited edition collaboration between Edinburgh Gin, and the Royal Botanic Garden in Edinburgh. Inspiration for this gin was taken after the discovery of the "1670 Physic Garden". This was used as a source of botanical inspired medicinal remedies by two Edinburgh doctors, Robert Sibbald and Andrew Balfour. Over a 12 month period, David Wilkinson (Edinburgh Gin's Head distiller) worked with the Royal Botanic Garden's head botanist. The recipe was experimented with, and refined until both were happy.  Many of the botanicals which were finally decided upon would also have been found in the original garden, such as fennel (seeds and leaves) and sweet cicely both quite common, alongside exotic plants such as Piper Leaf, Tasmannia Lanceolata leaf and Tasmanian Mountain Pepper. The result? A contemporary gin which keeps its roots firmly in a fascinating chapter of Edinburgh’s history. "At Edinburgh Gin we are constantly striving to create new, classic gins with a modern twist. Working so closely with Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh and Botanist, Dr Greg Kenicer, enabled us to experiment with a range of handpicked botanicals to create an enticingly aromatic gin with lively herbaceous – almost floral notes – with added peppery spice" - David Wilkinson, Head Distiller at Edinburgh Gin Read more about Edinburgh Gin Perfect Serve This distinctive gin can be enjoyed in a classic G&T, served with a premium Indian Tonic Water such as Double Dutch Indian Tonic Water. 50ml of the gin, and 150ml of the tonic work perfectly. Garnish with a fresh basil leaf to finish the drink off. It also works well in cocktails as its crisp notes complement classic cocktails such as the Martini.

Arbikie Chilli Vodka 70cl

Arbikie Chilli Vodka 70cl

Arbikie Strawberry Vodka 50cl

Arbikie Strawberry Vodka 50cl

Arbikie Strawberry Vodka With a history going back through four generations, the Arbikie Highland Estate is a family owned farm located on the east coast of Angus (between Dundee and Aberdeen in Scotland). In an area where the weather and seasons can be turbulent, the family plant, sow, tend and harvest - resulting in crops of quality, which have been grown with passion. Now, three of the family brothers (John, Iain and David) are the visionaries and driving force behind the Arbikie Highland Estate distillery - creating drinks with the same passion that their famly has farmed the land with through the generations. To create their Strawberry Vodka, they use their potato vodka, and fresh strawberries. As the flavours come from fresh strawberries (and not artificial flavourings or chemicals), each season results in a slightly different taste - which reflects the seasons’ changeable weather. The strawberries give the smooth vodka a naturally fruity sweet flavour, with an enticing aroma of strawberry jam. More from Arbikie Highland Estate Perfect Serve Whilst we love the sweet fruity flavours in this vodka on its own, it's exceptional in adding a fruity edge to cocktails. How about a Strawberry 75 Cocktail? In a cocktail shaker filled with ice, add 25ml of the Strawberry Vodka, 20ml lime juice, 15ml of sugar syrup (if you have it - try Rosemary Syrup) and 10ml of cranberry juice. Shake well and strain into a large wine glass. Top up with Prosecco, and garnish with a slice of strawberry.

Arbikie Nàdar Gin 70cl

Arbikie Nàdar Gin 70cl

Arbikie Nàdar Gin With a history going back through four generations, the Arbikie Highland Estate is a family owned farm located on the east coast of Angus (between Dundee and Aberdeen in Scotland). Having a close relationship with their land, they are keen to ensure they grow and distill sustainably. Meaning 'Nature' in Gaelic, the Nàdar spirits are created to be climate positive.  Surprisingly, the base spirit used in creating these drinks is the pea - and they grow the crop, and create the spirit themselves. This requires no nitrogen fertiliser in its growth, so beneficial to the environment. In their Nàdar Gin they have taken their base spirit and combined it with a number of botanicals. The key ones being juniper, Makrut Lime Leaf & Lemongrass. The result is a gin which has a fresh, fruity citrus aroma. On the palate its smooth and silky allowing the delicate spice and citrus flavours to develop,  gently making themselves known. More from Arbikie Highland Estate Perfect Serve This is ideally served with a tonic ligher on sugar, such as Lobsters. Take a large glass filled with ice and add 50ml of the gin. Gently pour over 150 - 200ml of the tonic and stir gently. Garnish with a thin slice of fresh ginger (to heighten the gentle spice), or lime (to enhance the citrus notes).

Penderyn Single Malt Welsh Whisky - Peated 70cl

Penderyn Single Malt Welsh Whisky - Peated 70cl

Penderyn Single Malt Welsh Whisky - Peated "From Wales to the world..." - Penderyn Distillery The Penderyn distillery is located on the edge of the Brecon Beacons (a National Park in Wales, UK). It was launched on St David's Day in 2004 (the patron saint of Wales), in the presence of King Charles III (then HRH Prince Charles, who was the Prince of Wales).  The location was chosen due to a fresh natural spring located in the Village. They also use a unique copper single-pot still, which was designed by Dr David Faraday (a relative of the famous 19th Century Scientist). This was installed in 2000 and produces a spirit at 92%, which is an industry high. Penderyn state this is one of the reasons that their whiskies are light, fruity and full of flavour. As if this wasn't enough to ensure a world-class product, they hired Dr Jum Swan, a Scottish Whisky expert as their Master Distiller. Things have gone from strength to strength since their launch, and they have won over 100 Double Gold / Gold / Masters awards, and is available in over 50 countries the world over, including the key markets for whisky of France, Germany, the USA and China.  For their Gold range, in which their Peated edition sits, Penderyn have taken inspiration from Welsh Gold. Extremely rare, pure and precious it was worn by the legendary Welsh princes of old. Their peated edition (as the name would suggest) has a medium peaty character. Interestingly, this is also certified as Kosher. The nose has a sweet aromatic smokiness, with vanilla, green apple and refreshing citrus. The flavours are complex, yet gentle with a light smoke and citrus fruitiness. It finishes with smoke and vanilla. More from Penderyn Perfect Serve We particularly liked this at room temperature served neat, but as with all good whiskies, enjoy as you want to!

The dragon features in many Welsh tales, and was the historic banner for the legendary Welsh Princes. It is from this that Penderyn have taken inspiration for their Dragon series of whiskies, which the Celt falls into.  Celt is a single malt, which is finished in special ex-peated quarter casks before bottling. With mild aromas of peat smoke, this whisky draws you in. Along with this are hints of salty air, as well as toast and hints of marmalade. The palate brings sweetness, before the smokiness comes through. This develops slowly in the mouth before a slight bitterness draws you to the finish, which leaves a long and lingering freshness to the mouth. More from Penderyn Perfect Serve We particularly liked this with just a dash of water, but as with all good whiskies, enjoy as you want to!

Penderyn Single Malt Welsh Whisky - Madeira Finish 70cl

Penderyn Single Malt Welsh Whisky - Madeira Finish 70cl

Penderyn Single Malt Welsh Whisky - Madeira Finish "From Wales to the world..."

Martin Miller's Gin 70cl

Martin Miller's Gin 70cl

Martin Miller's Gin This is a gin which is the creation of three friends (David Bromige, Andreas Versteegh and Martin Miller). Martin Miller wanted a gin which would enliven a category which he felt to be neglected. The through came in 1998, and the gin was launched in 1999. A modern take on a classic dry gin, Martin Miller's uses the best traditions of English distillers. However, they add their own twist to it. They wanted a gin that ‘tasted of gin’ in the words of Martin Miller. This is a pot distilled gin, which uses two separate distillations of earthy and citrus based botanicals. This imparts a perfect balance between citrus and juniper. The botanicals used with the gin are juniper, angelica, dried lemon peel, cassia, coriander seeds, dried lime peel, liquorice root, nutmeg, bitter orange peel and florentine iris. Once the distillation of these botanicals is complete, the distillate is shipped to Iceland. It is here that it is blended to strength using Icelandic spring water. This water is renowned for its purity, resulting in no artificial demineralisation needed which further enhances the gentle bouquet and trademark sensation. The result of the whole process is a gin which is smooth and citrus. It has an excellent balance where, like a "classic gin" juniper is dominant. Yet it has a citrus freshness which shines through. A gin that "tastes of gin" as the distiller says. Overall, Martin Miller's gin has a junipery pine aroma, which merges perfectly with fresh lemon peel. In the background theres a delicate pepperiness. On the palate there is a very delicate liquorice sweetness, which works perfectly with the citrus which is forward on the taste, along with gentle spice notes. It's soft and delicate, and extremely smooth in the mouth. The finish is warming, very smooth, with lemon lingering. In the words of the distiller: "Unconventional English Distillation of the finest botanicals, blended with the purest Icelandic water. Is it Madness or Genius?" - only you can tell!Read more about Martin Miller's Perfect Serve The premise behind this gin is "gin as it should be", so a neutral tonic works best - and we recommend Seventeen Tonic Water. In a large glass filled with lots of ice pour 50ml of the gin and top up with 150-200ml of tonic. Garnish with a quartered strawberry.

Penderyn Myth Single Malt Welsh Whisky 70cl

Martin Miller's Gin (Mini) 5cl

Martin Miller's Gin (Mini) 5cl

These merge enticingly with creamy fudge and dried fruits. The palate is exceptionally smooth, bringing the freshness hinted at on the nose as well as rich dried fruits. Whilst full of flavour, its delicate and has a sweetness to it, which ends in a hint of bitterness which ensures the overall drink retains a refreshing quality. The finish leaves a lingering wamth of rich madeira fruit cake.  More from Penderyn Perfect Serve We particularly liked this at room temperature with a splash of water, but as with all good whiskies, enjoy as you want to!
