44°N Gin 50cl

44°N Gin 50cl

44°N Gin Created to capture the "luminous depth of the sea and the windswept aromas of the Mediterranean in every drop", this is an ultra premium French gin. Named after the geographic location of its producer Comte de Grasse (literally Count of Grasse), it is situated just north of Cannes and west of Nice - in the Cote d’Azur, Southern France They utilise as many locally sourced botanicals as possible, Bitter Orange, Cade, Mimosa, Centifolia and Immortelle to ensure they capture the spirit of the area.  The flavour remains true to its mediterranean roots as well, with a floral body from hints of Grasse’s Rose Centifolia and bright jasmine. There is a touch of jam like sweetness through the bitter orange which is expertly countered with a herbaceous punch of Angelica and Samphire. A little warmth from a touch of pepper greets you throughour the drink. This doesn't overpower though, rather enhacing the other botanicals bringing them to life. The finish benefits deliciously from Orris and honey which ensure a sweet yet musky long-lasting effect on the tongue. These blend perfectly with the floral and citrus notes, all mingling perfectly together. Perfect Serve With a multitude of flavours within the drink, this works perfectly with a neutral tonic like Fever-Tree Indian Tonic. However, this also works particularly well with Fever-Tree Mediterranean Tonic, which adds a little more sweetness to the gin and tonic. With either tonic, we recommend 50ml of gin to 100 - 150ml of the tonic. With this gin, just plenty of ice and a large glass is needed. No garnish necessary as the gin really speaks for itself!

Blind Tiger Piper Cubeba Gin (Mini) 5cl

Blind Tiger Piper Cubeba Gin (Mini) 5cl

Blind Tiger Piper Cubeba Gin Whilst it gives a striking look to the bottle, there is a reason behind the name of Blind Tiger. Another name for a speakeasy, A blind tiger was a hidden bar which served alcohol during the period of prohibition. The door of the place would have the picture of a blind tiger or a blind pig, so those in the know would know where to go! Blind Tiger's Piper Cubeba gin is made in small batches in a "concealed" distillery in the west of Belgium, they macerate and distill the botanicals together before adding double distilled cubeb pepper. Daring and invigorating, this gin has a unique blend of botanicals, which give it a distinct spicy profile from the cubeb pepper, which is joined with hints of citrus from orange. Unusually, they use malted barley in their distillation along with the required juniper. These are joined with corriander seeds, bitter orange peel, orange blossom, ginger, green cardamom, lavender and licorice, angelica and orris root. Finally, a secret Belgian botanical is added. Definitely a spicy gin, with clear citrus notes. The end finish is spicy too, with the piper cubeb (pepper) coming through as well as a warmth from the malted barley and earthy notes from ginger liquorice and cardamom.   Read more about Blind Tiger Perfect Serve Whilst this is really delicious drunk on its own over ice, having it as a gin tonic brings out a slightly different character. The bubbles tone down the spicy notes a little, and the quinine helps draw out the citrus a little more. It works best with a neutral, and dry tonic such as Three Cents Dry Tonic. In a glass filled with ice, add 50ml of the gin to 150ml of the tonic. Garnish with a slice of orange, and some black peppercorns.

Volsted Pink Robin Gin 70cl

Volsted Pink Robin Gin 70cl

Volsted Pink Robin Gin Created (as the name would suggest) at the Volsted Distillery in Northern Denmark (just to the South of Aalborg), the founder (Thorbjoern Ravn Kaagaard) utilises his background in process engineering and schnapps making to ensure the production is up-to-date. They use a 100 litre still which Thorbjoern designed himself, using both pot and vapor infusion methods, and even bottling and labelling by hand. “We strive to do our utmost in every part of the process, every time and every day and strongly believe that this care and love can be tasted in our spirits” - Thorbjoern Ravn Kaagaard It is located in the Lindenborg river valley, which helps inspire the products that the distillery create. It is also this location which helps flavour the gins they produce. The distillery gas its own well, which draws pure spring water from deep underground, in a glacier formed drumlin. The unique qualities and taste of the water add to the flavour profiles in the distilleries spirits.  Their Pink Robin gin is a contemporary, fresh take on an Old Tom Gin. It is distilled with apples and citrus before being infused with Pink Grape syrup (adding its colour, taste and sweetness).  The flavours in this gin are perfectly balanced between the sourness found in grapes and apples, and the sweetness from the syrup (which is characteristic of all Old Tom gins).  The name? As with all of the Volsted gins, they are named after birds found local to the distillery. The Pink Robin is a cute little bird with beautiful pink plumage! More from Volsted Perfect Serve We believe the best tonic for this is a neutral tonic such as Fentimans Connoisuers However, to add a little citrus edge, try their Valencian Orange. In a large copa glass filled with ice, add 50ml of the gin and top up with 150ml of your chosen tonic. Garnish with a slice of orange.

Damrak Gin 70cl

Damrak Gin 70cl

Damrak Gin Situated in the heart of Amsterdam (right behind Dam square), the Lucas Bols distillery is proud to create Damrak.... the Amsterdammer among the London boys of Gin. Using 17 different ingredients, Damrak Gin stands by the fact its gin has a "DAM good taste". Some of these are known (and easily detected in tasting), whilst others remain the Master Distiller's secret. Th orange stopper gives something of a hint to the main flavour profile of this gin! The main distillate coming from the best quality Curacao orange peels. It works exceptionally well to highlight the citrus profile of this gin. But it doesn't stop there.... Valencian oranges give it a sweet and distinctive aroma, while lemons provide a welcoming freshness. Whilst the juniper flavours are present in Damrak (as in all gins), they utilise slightly less in the creation of this gin. In addition, they add cinnamon, lavender, coriander and star anise. The remainder are the secret ingredients. Apparently, a "DAM unique flavour". The aroma of this gin is definitively orange. Whilst in the glass the citrus notes build as well, especially when mixed with tonic. Fresh notes of menthol, eucalyptus and lemon also come foward. On the palate this is fruit forward, with a large hit of citrus - slightly sharp with a delicate spice. Whilst juniper hides in the aroma, it makes itself known in the taste, but definitely not in an overpowering manner. Light herbal notes, and a little vanilla also come out. It finishes cleanly with little complication.  Read more about Damrak Perfect Serve We have two options with this gin, both using Fentimans. Firstly their Premium Tonic water works well to awaken all the flavours in the gin without overpowering it. Secondly, Valencian Orange Tonic helps to really bring the orange flavours out - adding additional aroma, flavour and a light orange colour. With either tonic, take a large glass filled with ice and add 50ml of gin. Top up with 150ml of your preferred tonic and stir gently. Garnish with a slice of orange.

Marula Gin Pomegranate 50cl

Marula Gin Pomegranate 50cl

Marula Gin Pomegranate The pomegranate edition of Marula Gin was inspired in the same way as their classic, and uses this gin as the base. The Marula tree grows in Namibia, and is also known as the Elephant tree. Elephants love to eat the fruit, but when in their stomach it ferments and makes them just a little drunk! (Apparently monkey's and giraffes like it too for a similar reason!). Taking inspiration from this, as well as the delicious flavour of the fruit, a number of Belgian gin connoiseurs decided to create a new gin, and Marula Gin was born. Using the marula fruit as well as other carefully selected botanicals (juniper berries from Tuscany, lavender from Provence, rose petals from Bulgaria, coriander from India and orange blossom from Spain) they have created a truly delicious fruity gin. In creating the pomegranate expression, Marula use the original base and then add pomegranates, raspberries, wild strawberries and blackberries. This ensure the original gins fruitiness is taken to the next level! This is a truly sensual, mellow and easily accessible gin. The nose allows the additional fruit aromas to come forward, and these fruits also ensure a soft, pink colour. The pomegranate adds a particular (but not overpowering) sweetness to the gin too, which blends perfectly with the other fruit flavours. Good to know! For those of us that love elephants (Emma@ginfling is a big fan), by purchasing Marula Gin, you are helping these magnificent creatures. In return for using the forbidden fruit of the elephant tree, Marula Gin supports Elephant Whispers (a safe haven for elephants in Africa) by adopting elephants. Read more about Marula Perfect Serve This is best served in a large glass filled with lots of ice. Pour in 50ml of the gin, and then gently pour over 150 - 200ml of your chosen tonic. We recommend Fever-Tree Premium Indian Tonic, but if you really want to enshance the fruit flavours, try their raspberry and rhubarb tonic. Stir well, and garnish with some fresh (or frozen) red berries. For something a little different, try a 'King Louis' cocktail. In a cocktail shaker filled with ice, mix together 50ml of Marula Pomegranate Gin and 15ml of lemon juice. Strain into a glass, and fill with 120ml of Fever-Tree Ginger Beer. Garnish with fresh red berries. Please, don't be like an elephant - drink responsibly!!
