Citadelle Gin (Mini) 5cl

Citadelle Gin Mini Since 1996, Château de Bonbonnet in the southwest of France has been the home of Citadelle Gin. Citadelle is proud of its geographic location, and from this they take inspiration. Thie aim was to distill the essence of their region into one perfectly crisp spirit. It takes time to make Citadelle gin. There are 19 botanicals that make up Citadelle. These are infused, depending on their flavour profile, for between one and four days. This is crucial so that Citadelle can acquire its full flavour profile. After this, it is then distilled in small copper stills over open flames in order to develop its suppleness and full rounded character in the mouth. Citadelle Gin exudes subtle aromas of fresh flowers which are highlighted by more assertive citric scents. In the glass, it emanates more intense, herbaceous notes of juniper and anise; which is then followed by the spicy cinnamon side which softens the nose. This brings a very gourmand dimension to the gin. On the palate, the juniper is forward, but cedes to a long, voluptuous, spicy fragrance. There are three distinct traits within Citadelle which offers its complete aromatic richness. Juniper its signature. It doesn't hide from the fact its a gin, and juniper forms the key base of Citadelle. This is joined with citrus - this is a complementary note that underlines the juniper. Then there follows the exotic - this offers an additional level of enjoyment with touches of pepper, nutmeg and cinnamon, which gives Citadelle its delicate spiciness. Overall its a beautifully balanced gin. Elegant, soft and and long in the mouth, definitely a taste of summer France in a bottle. Cointreau Created in 1849, Cointreau's original recipe, rituals, and commitment to quality have been passed down through generations of the family, transforming a family name into an international brand. Using only quality ingredients, Cointreau source oranges from Brazil to Spain, and Ghana to Morocco. They utilise a blend of the sweet and bitter orange peels and blend them.  The result ia balanced, versatile, and exceptionally aromatic. Whilst the bottle is a deep amber colour (and instantly recognisable), the liqueur inside is transparent. When opening the bottle you are instantly greeted by the blend of oranges. Zesty, fresh and floral, it has a sweetness to it too. The flavour is fresh yet it lingers pleasantly on the palate and is (unsurprisingly) intensely orange in flavour. Read more about Cointreau Perfect Serve Whilst this can be enjoyed on its own, with lemonade or simply over ice, its a key component in a number of cocktails. Tw of our favourites are these. For a White Lady, pour 30 ml of Cointreau, 30 ml of gin (we like the Botanist), 30 ml of fresh lemon juice and 1 egg white into a cocktail shaker. Add ice, and then shake until the ingredients are mised and well chilled. Pour into a cocktail glass, and garnish with a twist of lemon. Or for a slightly sweeter drink, try a Breakfast Martini. Pour 15ml of Cointreau, 50 ml of gin (again, Botanist works well here), 15ml of fresh lemon juice and this time 1 tbsp of Orange Marmalade into a cocktail shaker. Clover Gin Launched in November 2015, and made in Belgium, Clover Gin is the first gin from the "Clover" family. It's made with locally grown and sourced ingredients, and they are proud that this is an original and Belgian product. The three leaves of the Clover represent a number of things with this gin. The three sisters who own the company (Ann-Sophie, Charlotte and Nanouck Ickroth), and their memories of childhood running through clover strewn meadows. Their mother (a botanist), instilled in them a knowledge of herbs, flowers and spices - which sparked a love for all things flora. This knowledge and passion comes through in their products as well. With a fairly standard base of coriander seed, cardamom and juniper, it took around ten months to finalise the recipe. Whilst the final recipe is obviously a secret, there are 14 different botanicals in total. Pear and lavender are included, which bring a fruity sweetness, and a herbal aroma respectively. Clover leaves (unsurprisingly!) and black pepper are also added. The clover continuing the herbal, floral aroma and the black pepper to give a little weight to the gin, but no great spiciness. This gives the gin an interesting, and delicious taste profile. On the nose, the initial note is quite sweet, with an almost pear-drop note to it. This is joined with an herbaceous floral perfume like tone. The taste is exceedinly balanced, with a number of the botanicals each greeting you, but none fighting. A really harmonious gin. It's light on the juniper, and quite herbaceous and floral, no doubt with the clover contributing to this. A light touch of the cardamom also comes through, but again - doesn't over power. The finish has notes of lavender, with the other tastes delicately remaining on the palate. This is a clean, fresh, and different gin. As the juniper isn't so persuasive in this gin, it could be good for those who aren't overly keen on the pine notes this can normally bring. Floral, light - and a very pleasing easy gin overall! Read more about Clover Perfect Serve This works exceedingly well in a classic gin tonic, as the bubbles help bring the aroma out, and tease a slight degree of sweetness from the gin too. We recommend Fever-Tree Premium Indian Tonic for this one. With lots of ice cubes in a glass, add 50ml of the gin to 150ml of the tonic. For a perfect finish, garnish with a very thin slice of ginger, a few juniper berries and maybe the zest of a lemon, which adds to the aroma.

Licor 43 Original This Spanish liquer was first produced by the Zamora family in Spain, Licor 43 has a a history which goes back to 1946. In fact, it was inspired by a golden and aromatic elixir called Liqvor Mirabilis which was banned by the Romans! With the arrival of tourism in the 60's the world discovered Licor 43, and it truly became a taste of Spain to many. Now in the 21st century, Licor 43 is available in well over fifty countries, and is the most international Spanish liqueur.  Licor 43 liqueur is exceptionally smooth, and has a instantly recognisable golden colour. The name hints at the recipe, with there being 43 all natural ingredients involved in its creation.  The bright golden hue of the drink really does reflect its Mediterranean heritage, evoking feelings of sun drenched golden beaches.  Whilst Licor 43 is a secret blend, it has a complex flavour profile. It is sweet, with a strong blend of citrus. There is a mild spiciness, with a touch of coriander, and floral notes from soft orange and lemon blossoms. There are botanical notes, and a hint of fruity warmth from ripe fruit. Once blended, the liqueur is rested between 6 and 9 months, so as to develop the flavours.  Read more about Licor 43 Perfect Serve Licor 43 is extremely smooth, so very easily drunk on its own or over ice. But for those of you a little more adventurous, or who want to try something new - we have three cocktail options. For a Ginger hit, try a Ginger 43. In a glass filled with ice, add 50ml of Licor 43 and 200ml of Ginger Ale (We like Double Dutch for this). Add the juice of half a lime and stir gently. Garnish with a slice of lime. For a deliciously fruity and sweet warm drink (perfect for cold days / evenings), try a Hot Apple 43. Heat 150ml of apple juice with a stick of cinnamon in it (warm it, don't boil!). Add the licor 43 in and remove the cinnamon stick. Pour into a glass. If you're feeling decadent, garnish with some whipped cream, and a sprinkle of cinnamon. Or lastly, for a really refreshing citrus hit, try a Mediterranean Breeze. Fill a small glass with crushed ice, and pour over 50ml of licor 43 and 25ml of Limoncello. Ballantine's Finest Whisky With a heritage that dates back to 1827, Ballantines is one of the most known and loved Scotch Whisky brands in the world. It started with George Ballantine in a small grocery store in Edinburgh. Here he would supply a range of whiskies to his customers. his developed into a larger establishment in Edinburgh, where along with his son George Junior they began to create their own blends. In 1920, the recipe for Ballantine's Finest was created, and it has stayed true to the original ever since. The result is a whisky which has become Europe's No. 1 Scotch Whisky, and was voted the World's Best Blended Scotch in 2020. Fun Fact: During prohibition, the bottles were designed to be square so that American Salesmen could conceal them in their briefcases without them rolling around should any inspectors be around! Finest is a great classic all-rounder. It has a light gold colour, and a nose which is soft, with notes of heather, honey and just a hint of delicate spice. The flavour is balanced well, subtle, and has hints of milk chocolate, red apples and vanilla. The finish leaves the palate feeling fresh, with a floral after-taste. Dingle Original Pot Still Gin This gin isn't just made in Ireland, it uses a lot of the local flora to create the unique recipe behind Dingle. The aim was to create a totally unique gin. One keeping to the great tradition of gin distilling but which also came with a degree of innovation.  Made in Co. Kerry (Ireland), they went through a long process to finalise their recipe. Giving this London Dry gin its unique taste they took rowan berries from the mountain ash trees, fuchsia, bog myrtle, hawthorn and heather which gives a real, unique taste of the Kerry landscape. Overall this is a really fresh and floral gin. Juniper is present, but the floral character helps to balance the juniper so it is not overpowering. In a large copa glass filled with ice, add 50ml of the gin and mix with 150ml of Three Cents Tonic Water (we like this one as it doesn't mask any of the flavours in the gin). Mermaid Spiced Rum Presented in a stunning "fish-scale" like bottle with a cork stopper, this rum is hand-crafted on the Isle of Wight (a small island off the south coast of the UK).  Mermaid Spiced Rum is a carefully selected blend of sugar cane and molasses rum from Trinidad and the Dominican Republic which have been aged between 2-5 years in oak bourbon whiskey barrels. On its arrival into the distillery, the blend is infused with local fruits and spices found on the Isle of Wight. The botanicals include rock samphire, fresh white cherry and apricot, honey from their own beehives and black salt from their floodtides. For a Mermaid Spiced Rum & Ginger, pour 50ml rum into a glass filled with ice and top up with ginger ale (we like it with Fentimans Ginger Ale). Firstly, rim the glass with melted chocolate, then pour 35ml Mermaid Spiced Rum, 20ml banana liqueur, 15ml chocolate liqueur and 75ml oat milk into a cocktail shaker with ice. Hooghoudt RAW Genever For their RAW Genever, Hooghoudt have combined four different malt spirits (3 individually distilled - barley, wheat, rye and the classic malt mix of wheat corn and rye), and blended this with a carefully selected selection of juniper (it is Genever!), herbs and spices.  As this is a RAW genever, it is not aged in Oak barrels, which gives it the fresh character of a young genever. Unlike with gin, the alcohol base of malt is not just a carrier for the oils and spices - but also a flavour in itself of the genever itself - and adds a distinct flavour. The aroma of this genever has subtle grain notes, which are complemented with juniper, citrus and a herbal background. The flavour is again full of the grain used in its creation, with citrus, coriander and a mild touch of sweetness. Velverty in the mouth, and with a slight spice in the aftertaste. X-Gin After many attempts, and over 45 different botanicals, this recipe was settles on. It combines juniper berries with 15 herbs and several of the best spices known to man. These include cocoa beans from Colombia, wild pepper and vanilla from Madagascar as well as hazelnuts from Piemonte in Italy. It is unique, and deliciously light on the palette. There is a lingering spiciness, with hints of chilli and cocoa. Juniper is quite pronounced at the start, but doesn't linger, allowing the other botanicals their own time to shine.
