Jack Daniel's Old No. 7 Tennessee Whiskey Established by Jasper Newton Daniel (known as Jack to his friends) in 1866, the Jack Daniel's distillery was the first establised distillery in the USA. It's based in Lynchburg, Tennessee. Through this experience, of over 150 years, Jack Daniel's has won numerous awards (its first Gold Medal was at the St Louis World's fair in 1904), and become known the world over. They also take pride in the process, which finishes only when the master distiller says it's ready. They mellow the whiskey through over 3 metres of sugar maple charcoal. Once completed, its then allowed to rest in handcrafted barrels of Jack Daniels' own making, maturing until it achieves the taste which is known and loved.. The result is a whiskey with a balanced nose, containing a sweet vanilla aroma which is joined by oak notes. On the palate this follows through with the flavours balancing mid-palate between a sweetness and the oak obtained from the maturation. Chase Original Potato Vodka Using a true 'field-to-bottle' philosophy, Chase is a family run distillery. They grow the potatoes they use to create their family of quality spirits. Their farm, and distillery is located in Herefordshire, in the west of England (close to the Welsh border).  To create one bottle of their Potato Vodka, Chase use 250 of their home-grown potatoes. The vodka is created by mashing the potatoes, and distilling them in their copper pot still (which they affectionately call 'Fat Betty').  The result is a smooth a creamy vodka. On the nose there is a mild hint of freshly sliced potato, true to its origins. On the palate there is a creamy texture, with a butteriness to it which ensures the mouth is coated well helping to impart the full flavour. Dingle Original Pot Still Gin This gin isn't just made in Ireland, it uses a lot of the local flora to create the unique recipe behind Dingle. The aim was to create a totally unique gin. One keeping to the great tradition of gin distilling but which also came with a degree of innovation.  Made in Co. Kerry (Ireland), they went through a long process to finalise their recipe. Giving this London Dry gin its unique taste they took rowan berries from the mountain ash trees, fuchsia, bog myrtle, hawthorn and heather which gives a real, unique taste of the Kerry landscape. Overall this is a really fresh and floral gin. Juniper is present, but the floral character helps to balance the juniper so it is not overpowering. Minke Irish Gin The founders of the Clonakilty distillery (located on the southwest coast of Ireland), the Scully family, have farmed their windswept coastal area of 9 successive generations. Through their love of the land, and knowledge of the area they found the best resouces for a maritime distillery. The distillery itself is located right at the waterfront, in the heart of Clonakilty town. Not only do they distill here, but also offer the public the option to see how their fantastic drinks are made. Produced at their distillery, Minke Irish gin is inspired by the maritime environment. From the Minke Whales seen swimming off the coast (giving their gin its name), to the Rock Samphire, a key botanical in their gin. This is sustainably harvested by hand from the Atlantic Ocean coastline and gives the gin a distinctly martitime flavour. Centuries of sea mist, soft rain and ocean spray provide a complexity to the soil that permeates through to the grass which feeds the cows that help produce whey. It is this whey that is used to create the base alcohol spirit used in making their Minke gin. It also gives a unique velvety texture and mouthfeel to it. V2C Classic Dutch Dry Gin V2C takes pride in its home (Amsterdam), but like the Dutch of old, looks to the wider world when thinking of ingredients. They ensure that the gin is created to the highest standards, and use ingredients harvested from across the world. With their name, they indicate the intent behind the gin. Four friends founded V2C, and it was named after the address they lived during their studies, the famous Victor de Stuersstraat 2C in Maastricht. To this end, the gin was created to encourage lively conversation and good times with friends. With their Classic gin, they pay homage to the more classic gin flvaours, but with a definite V2C twist. They use the freshest juniper, orange, licorice, laurel and St John’s Wort, which they subtly spice with coriander, cardamom, lemon and ginger. This is a gin which is definitely juniper-forward (another "classic" part to the gin), which is joined perfectly with soft spice and tangy fruit. This brings a subtle, light complexity to the drink. The taste has a lot of oily juniper which coats the mouth perfectly. Pine and cardamom spice are balanced by refreshing citrus notes. Theres also a hint of vanilla flower which creeps in. All round this is a delicious gin, classic, but with something a little extra. Read more about V2C Perfect Serve Serve in a highball glass or copa with a lot of ice cubes. Pour in 50ml of the gin, and top up the glass with 150 - 200ml of Fentimans Premium Tonic Water. Garnish with a slice of fresh ginger, fresh lemon and a few juniper berries. Alternatively, replace the Tonic with Rose Lemonade for a slightly sweeter drink. Garnish with a sliced strawberry and a few mint leaves. Juniper-forward, this gin is full of natural flavours. There is a definite aroma of rhubarb which is complemented by spiciness. Monkey Shoulder Blended Malt Scotch Whisky First produced in Scotland by Willian Grant & Sons in 2003, Monkey Shoulder is a blended malt whisky (the style used to be called 'Vatted Malt Whisky'). Since it's introduction it has fast grown to become the world's third best-selling brand of Scotch Whisky.  Whilst Monkey Shoulder has only been produced since 2003, William Grant & Sons has been distilling award-winning Scotch whiskies since 1887. It was created primarily to ensure the perfect whisky cocktail (but of course can also be enjoyed straight!). It was originally a blend from the Balbenie, Glenfiddich, and Kininvie distillers - but it's current composition is a secret. However it is known that its constituent malt whiskies originate from the Speyside region of Scotland (the area around the River Spey in northeastern Scotland). Fun Fact: The brand name 'Monkey Shoulder' is a reference to a repetitive strain injury which distillery workers often suffered from. This was due to long shifts turning malt by hand. On the nose there is zesty orange, with vanilla honey and spiced oak. On the palate there is a mild vanilla flavour, with hints of spice. As it was made to be mixed, its smooth, malty and fruit notes are strong enough to stand out in the mix - but remain balanced so as not to over-power a cocktail. More from Monkey Shoulder Perfect Serve As mentioned, this is a whisky which was made for mixing - and so we have a couple of options. Firstly, for a refreshing OMG (Orange / Monkey / Ginger), a variation on the Ginger Mule. Take a tall glass filled with ice and add 50ml of the Monkey Shoulder and 120ml of your favourite ginger ale (we like Fentimans). Stir gently and garnish with a wedge of Orange. For a Rob Roy Cocktail, take a mixing glass filled with ice and add 50ml of Monkey Shoulder, 25ml of Sweet Vermouth, and 3 dashes of Angostura Bitters. Mix well until chilled and then strain into a chilled martini glass. Garnish with some orange zest.

Ballantine's Finest Whisky With a heritage that dates back to 1827, Ballantines is one of the most known and loved Scotch Whisky brands in the world. It started with George Ballantine in a small grocery store in Edinburgh. Here he would supply a range of whiskies to his customers. his developed into a larger establishment in Edinburgh, where along with his son George Junior they began to create their own blends. In 1920, the recipe for Ballantine's Finest was created, and it has stayed true to the original ever since. The result is a whisky which has become Europe's No. 1 Scotch Whisky, and was voted the World's Best Blended Scotch in 2020. Fun Fact: During prohibition, the bottles were designed to be square so that American Salesmen could conceal them in their briefcases without them rolling around should any inspectors be around! Finest is a great classic all-rounder. It has a light gold colour, and a nose which is soft, with notes of heather, honey and just a hint of delicate spice. The flavour is balanced well, subtle, and has hints of milk chocolate, red apples and vanilla. The finish leaves the palate feeling fresh, with a floral after-taste. More from Ballantine's Perfect Serve As a classic, balanced all-rounder, this is easily enjoyed on its own, over ice, or with a splash of water. It works well in the mix too, either in cocktails, or more simply with a mixer such as cola or ginger ale. Using Douglas Fir, Coriander, Liquorice, Elderberry, Chamomile, Juniper, Angelica, Lemon Balm, Fresh Orange, Fresh Lemon and Thyme they have created a gin which takes the drinker right to the heart of the forest with them. On the nose this is zesty, with lively herbaceous green notes from the juniper and douglas fir. On the palate the classic notes of a gin, juniper, can be found here and are complimented by thyme, douglas fir and lemon balm (all of which are locally foraged). These strong and big botanical flavours are perfectly complimented and rounded out by chamomile and angelica. J&B Rare Whisky The history behind J&B (Justerini & Brooks) goes back to 1749, when it was founded as a Fine Wine & Spirits merchant to supply the aristocratic houses of London. It even went on to supply every British Monarch since King George III in 1761. This, their J&B Rare Whisky first went on sale in 1933 following the end of prohibition in the US. The blend contains a total of 42 different single malt and grain whiskies from Scotland. These include distilleries like Knockando, Auchroisk and Glen Spey. Whilst the whisky was created with mixing in mind - it is most definitely versatile enough to be enjoyed neat, or on the rocks - with its smooth, fruity taste being enjoyed however you like. On the nose there are notes or orange zest and malt, with warming caramel, apples and walnuts. The palate is balanced, smooth and full of ripe fruit - with the malt and a delicate toffee sweetness. As the drink finishes, it remains exeptionally balanced - lingering, but not overly so to a medium finish with woody oak and a touch of cinnamon spice.  More from J&B Perfect Serve Whilst this is a whisky which is easily enjoyed on its own - we really liked this in a Whisky Ginger. Take a tall glass filled with ice and add 50ml of the whisky. Gently pour over 150ml of your favourite ginger ale (we liked it with Thomas Henry Ginger Ale). Stir gently and add a slice or wedge of lime.

Gustav Arctic Vodka The story behind Lignell & Piispanen (the creators of the Gustav range of spirits) goes back to 1852. A family run business from then until today, it was started by Gustav Ranin when he purchases the Crown Distillery (itself founded in 1783) situated in the city of Kuopio (around 400km north-east of Helsinki) in Finland.  Right from their beginnings, the company has taken inspiration from the pristine forests and marshlands of their region. They handpick the berries and plants from this region, which are the pure raw materials used within their Gustav Spirits.  Their 170+ year history, attention to detail, and flavours found in their pristine landscape come together to create their delicious Gustav Spirits. It was Gustav Ranin himself who originally set about making vodka - and he wanted to ensure a true artisinal product.  Their Arctic Vodka is a crystal clear, soft and aromatic vodka with just a delicate hint of grain. More from Gustav Perfect Serve This is a superbly soft and delicate Vodka, so is easily enjoyed straight up served ice cold. However we think this works best as a base for high quality cocktails and mixed drinks. It gives the perfect smooth alcohol background, and doesn't overpower other flavours in the drink.
