Sylvius Dutch Dry Gin 70cl

Sylvius Dutch Dry Gin 70cl

Sylvius Dutch Dry Gin Created at the Onder de Boompjes Distillery, which has been distilling in Schiedam in the Netherlands since 1658. The name for this gin comes from Dr. Franciscus Sylvius, who it has been said was the first to create gin. He registered his distillate, calling it "Genevre". And so Schiedam's history with Genever (and gin) began. In creating this gin the distillery carefully selected ten different botanicals (juniper berries, angelica root, coriander seeds, lavender, whole lemons, orange zest, cinnamon, star anise, licorice root and caraway seeds. They then use 'ultra' wheat spirit to distil the botanicals - and after a few more processes - create this delicious gin. On the nose there are distinct aromas of the caraway along with cinnamon, a little lavender and just a hint of fresh lemon. On the palate the caraway also comes through initially, but this isnt all. This is a complex blend of balanced botanicals. Delicate floral notes join with piney juniper on the mid palate. The spice continues through into the finish, where the caraway comes back and is joined bit a delicate sweetness from licorice, and a touch of fennel. Perfect Serve We love this in a Negroni, as the flavours blend perfectly - however it also makes a delicious and intruiging gin & tonic.  Take a large glass filled with ice and add 50ml of the gin. Gently pour over 150 - 200ml of tonic (we like Fentimans Connoisseurs Tonic here - but their Valencian Orange works too), and stir gently. Garnish with a few juniper berries and a slice of orange.

GINAMIS Alcohol-Free Spirit 70cl

Ginraw Gastronomic Gin 70cl

Ginraw Gastronomic Gin 70cl

Ginraw Gastronomic Gin With a gastronomical taste that smoothly lingers on the most discerning palates. Ginraw is the gin answer to the gourmet's demands. During development, there was a requirement that it had a sublime character and personality for the gin. After many variations, and critiquing of the reciper, the final blend of botanicals was unanimous. The best juniper berries are distilled in traditional copper stills. They merged a hint of fresh mediterranean notes (lemon, citron, and laurel leaves), which are macerated for up to ten days, with exotic botanicals (kaffir lime leaves, black cardamom and coriander seeds). Combining precisely in the right proportions resulted in what the creators believe is an unparalleled flavour and aroma.  It has a distinct and aromatic intensity on the nose, which is followed with a full-bodied and voluminous feel on the palate. Smooth, and elegant, a gastronimic treat in delivered in an eye catching bottle. Perfect Serve This is a gin which was conceived to explore all its nuances when drinking, so it can easily be enjoyed neat or on the rocks, and works well within a number of cocktails. In a G&T, the fizz enhances the freshness, and we recommend this is enjoyed with a premium tonic. In a tall glass filled with ice, add 50ml of gin gently pour over 100ml of Fentimans Connoisseurs Tonic Water (this is a very neutral tonic, which will really allow the Ginraw to be the hero). Stir gently, and garnish simply with a slice of lemon.

Poseidon Dry Gin 70cl

Poseidon Dry Gin 70cl

Poseidon Dry Gin Much like the sea, Poseidon Gin is bold, complex and multi-layered. Starting with fresh citrus, a velvety heart and a spicy finish, this gin uses distinctive seaweed to uncover a crisp but subtle hint of the sea. The combination of knowledge and effort are what go into creating Poseidon. Over 40 different botanicals and numerous variations, the right combination of was found. They essence of maritime passion was captured, a harmonious balance was struck and Poseidon Gin set foot into the world. There are 12 botanicals from around the world: wakame seaweed, rosemary, cardamom, elderflower, rosehip, liquorice, ginger, grains of paradise, cubeb berries, lemon peel, coriander seeds and of course, juniper berries. The name hints at what is to be experienced upon opening the bottle. It starts off with ocean freshness, which is then followed by intense juniper and warm spices. The aroma offers a harmonious get-together of the sea and the earth. Upon tasting, the power of the ocean really takes over. The juniper makes way for the Wakame (seaweed) to give a warm taste of the sea, accompanied by a surprising slightly sweet hint at the end. All of this is balanced by a long velvet mouthfeel that covers the tongue in a silky smoothness. The journey finishes warm and with lingering spices. A pleasant but subtle touch of pepper gives Poseidon that little bit of extra power. Read more about Poseidon Perfect Serve Serve with plenty of ice, Fever-Tree Mediterranean Tonic Water and garnish with a sprig of rosemary and a slice of lemon. Or for an added citrus edge, use Fentimans Valencian Orange Tonic, which gives a slight zestiness to the G&T For a Maritime Martini, mix equal parts Poseidon Gin and Martini Vermouth Extra Dry and garnish with olives.

Amuerte Coca Leaf Gin - Green Edition 70cl

Amuerte Coca Leaf Gin - Green Edition 70cl

Amuerte Coca Leaf Gin - Green Edition The history of the cocaine plant goes back to the Incan Empire, who used the plant in many ways, from fighting hunger, to curing various sicknesses. Whilst travelling, the founders of Amuerte witnesses a local tribe chewiong on cocaine leaves. Trying themselves, they discovered the unique flavour inherent there. Having a history dating back well over 100 years in the making of gin, they utilised the knowledge and experience to create  a gin with passion, One which contained the vivacious coca leaf flavour (which has a similar flavour to green tea) which they blended with other botanicals. With their Green edition (which is a strictly limited edition, and made for the summer), Amuerte have enhanced their signature coca leaf flavour with the Curuba fruit (also known as the banana passionfruit). Native to the Andean valleys (from Bolivia to Venezuela), the banana passionfruit has been cultivated since pre-colombian times by different cultures in the western South American continent. It looks similar to a young unripened banana, but when cut open it has a glistening orange pulp thats studded with numerous black seeds. The flavour is similar to passionfruit (it's from the same plant family), and has a tart and tangy flavour.  A delicious summery edition from Amuerte, this is really fresh with a slight acidity - and is packed full of tropical flavour! More from Amuerte Perfect Serve To fully enjoy the flavours found in this gin it's best enjoyed with a neutral tonic (and we recommend Double Dutch Indian Tonic for this one). Pour 50ml of the gin into a glass filled with ice, and add 100 - 150ml of the tonic. Garnish with the pulp of a fresh passionfruit - or if this isnt available, a slice of pineapple also works!

The Macallan A Night on Earth 2023 Whisky 70cl

The Macallan A Night on Earth 2023 Whisky 70cl

The Macallan A Night on Earth 2023 Whisky Please note: This is a limited edition item, so when its gone, its gone! Founded in 1824 (making it nearly 200 years old) The Macallan distillery is located in Craigellachie, Moray in Scotland. The Macallen is classed as the second or third best-selling single malt scotch (behind Glenfiddich, and perhaps Glenlivet). One of their limited editions, A Night on Earth is an annual release and is a unique expression which is created by carefully balancing exceptional first-fill American ex-bourbon barrels, along with European and American sherry-seasoned oak casks. Its created to celebrate the special time of New Year. A time when people journey to be together, to acknowledge the passing of the old year, and welcome in the new. This edition is created in collaboration with the acclaimed Chinese artist, Nini Sum. It comes with innovative multi-layered packaging that provides an exceptional unboxing experience - perfect as a special gift for a whisky lover, or just as exquisite for the whisky connoisseur to buy for themselves. The artwork on the box ties together the whisky's notes and Nini's cherished New Year memories. Capturing the burst of fireworks, the enticing aromas of toasted oak emanating from rice popcorn vendors on the brightly decorated streets of her town, the milk candy in her pockets and the sweet fragrance of steamed rice pudding beckoning her home. The whisky also has a nuttiness, which is an echo of the sunflower seeds Nini’s family shared as they laughed and talked about their wishes for the new year. The whisky itself has a sunrise golden colour to it, which releases a luscious aroma of toasted oak, steamed rice and oak pudding which is joined by citrus, vanilla and oat biscuits. The palate opens up with a burst of effervescent citrus fruits (lemon and lime) which is joined with flavours likened to a sweet creamy vanilla sponge and toasted coconut.  This leads to a medium finish, which leaves sweet, toasted oak and vanilla on the tastebuds. More from The Macallan Perfect Serve A truly exquisite whisky, we loved this with a small splash of water. However, as with all whisky - enjoy as you will!

Daffy's Gin 70cl

Daffy's Gin 70cl

Daffy's Gin Whilst this gin is made in the middle of Scotland (UK), the makers looked the world over for the best ingredients. This was because they wanted to create a gin which was "a gin like no other". They start by using pure wheat grain spirit, which they source from northern France. This is distilled in a single batch copper still, using a manner similar to malt whisky (they do make it in Scotland after all!). The botanicals they chose are a combination of the traditional found in a number of gins (juniper, coriander seeds, angelica root, cassia bark, orange peel and orris root), along with the less known within gin, Lebanese mint, and some rare variety lemons. These carefully selected botanicals are stepped, and then distilled in the base spirit, which creates a complex and exceedingly well balanced gin.  The result is something quite different within the gin world. The addition of the lebanese mint brings a real freshness, and this is joined with other notes from the citrus, along with a hint of toffee and spiced caramel. This is a slightly higher than usual alcohol content for a "non-navy" gin, which created a powerful heart to the gin - and brings the botanical flavours forward. Interesting fact.... the name Daffy comes from a slang term for Gin in Britain during the 1800's. It became so well used, even the famous writer Charles Dickens mentions it. Daffy is also seen as the Goddess of Gin (having been written about in the 1700's). Read more about Daffy's Perfect Serve As this is such a smooth gin, it can (for those who really enjoy a good gin) be enjoyed on its own, maybe with a little ice. Here it is well rounded, and smooth - with a long finish. However, we prefer this as a longer drink, and like to allow the unique flavours to come out. For a D&T (Daffy's & Tonic), pour 50ml of the gin into a large glass filled with ice, and top up with 150 - 200ml of neutral tonic (we find Double Dutch Indian Tonic works well, but any neutral tonic should be fine). Garnish with a slice of lime, and a sprig of mint.

Martin Miller's Westbourne Strength Gin 70cl

Martin Miller's Westbourne Strength Gin 70cl

Martin Miller's Westbourne Strength Gin With their Westbourne Strength gin, Martin Miller's were responding to requests from mixologists for a gin which was more 'old school' in its flavours - allowing them to create full-flavour inventions. Right from the launch, this gin proved popular. Both with the mixologists it was made for, but also by judges - it received the highest ever score (97 / 100) by the Beverage Tasting Institute in 2020 winning The World's Best Gin award. The production of the gin utilises the same botanicals and processes as can be found in the original Martin Millers, so also uses two separate distillations of earthy and citrus based botanicals. This imparts a perfect balance between citrus and juniper. The botanicals used with the gin are juniper, angelica, dried lemon peel, cassia, coriander seeds, dried lime peel, liquorice root, nutmeg, bitter orange peel and florentine iris. Once the distillation of these botanicals is complete, the distillate is shipped to Iceland. It is here that it is blended to strength using Icelandic spring water. This water is renowned for its purity, resulting in no artificial demineralisation needed which further enhances the gentle bouquet and trademark sensation. With the Westbourne Strength, less water is used during the dilution - leaving the higher alcohol percentage. The aroma of this gin is clean, with a pine forward freshness - merged with hints of citrus. The flavour is predominantly of juniper and citrus. There is some intermingling of pepperiness, and a clean finish with a hint of cucumber. The increase in abv ensures the juniper is more pronounced which ensures a richer, spicier mouth feel but still maintaining Martin Miller's reknowned soft and smooth finish. Interesting Fact: The name Westbourne comes from the location of Martin Miller's home in Westbourne Grover, Notting Hill, London. Read more about Martin Miller's Perfect Serve The premise behind this gin is "gin as it should be", but one which stands up particularly well to use in cocktails - so we would strongly recommend trying these "in the mix". We particularly liked this in a Martini, where it holds its own particularly well. If enjoying in a Gin & Tonic, we would strongly recommend a neutral tonic - and we like Seventeen Tonic Water. In a large glass filled with lots of ice pour 50ml of the gin and top up with 150-200ml of tonic. Garnish simply with a slice of lemon.

Misty Isle Tommy's Gin 70cl

Misty Isle Tommy's Gin 70cl

Misty Isle Tommy's Gin Perhaps better known for its rugged landscapes, medieval castles, picturesque fishing villages (and perhaps whisky), it is the beautiful Isle of Skye that Misty Isle gin calls home. It is here, on Scotland's Misty Isle (a local name for the Island) that two brothers, Thomas and Alistair Wilson started the Isle of Skye Distillery. Having both been born and grown up on the island, they are unashamedly proud of their Island, its people and the produce made there. It is due to this that they wanted to create a range of spirits for which they, and the Island could also be proud of. All their Spirits are made in Portree (the largest town on Skye), and use the crystal clear spring wayers from the Storr Lochs nearby. The stills they have are. also the first to have produced gin on Skye. Launched in 2017, Tommy's Gin was created in memory of the distillers late father (Tommy Wilson). The name of the gin is a recognition of both his name, and the fact that he served as a soldier in the Suez invasion (as 'Tommy' is also a generic name and term of endearment for a soldier. Good to know: For every bottle of Tommys gin sold, a donation is made by the Isle of Skye Distillery to local Military Charities, Military charities were close to Thomas’ heart so this is a fitting memory for him The gin itself uses a number of ingredients found locally, as well as poppy seeds (which is a symbol of rememberance in the UK). The juniper is hand-foraged on the Isle of Skye, blaeberries (scottish blueberries), coriander, liquorice root, and sweet orange as well as other select botanicals come together. A delicate sweetness comes through from the poppy, as well as a hint of liquorice. This continues on to a tartness from the blaeberries and a hint of sweet orange. The finish is balanced, with citrus notes. More from Misty Isle Perfect Serve We feel works best as a delicious and classic gin & tonic. Take a large glass filled with ice and add 50ml of the gin. Gently pour over 150ml of tonic (we like Three Cents Tonic Water), and stir gently. Garnish with a wedge of fresh lemon and a few blueberries.

Martin Miller's Gin 70cl

Martin Miller's Gin 70cl

Martin Miller's Gin This is a gin which is the creation of three friends (David Bromige, Andreas Versteegh and Martin Miller). Martin Miller wanted a gin which would enliven a category which he felt to be neglected. The through came in 1998, and the gin was launched in 1999. A modern take on a classic dry gin, Martin Miller's uses the best traditions of English distillers. However, they add their own twist to it. They wanted a gin that ‘tasted of gin’ in the words of Martin Miller. This is a pot distilled gin, which uses two separate distillations of earthy and citrus based botanicals. The result of the whole process is a gin which is smooth and citrus. It has an excellent balance where, like a "classic gin" juniper is dominant. Yet it has a citrus freshness which shines through. A gin that "tastes of gin" as the distiller says. Overall, Martin Miller's gin has a junipery pine aroma, which merges perfectly with fresh lemon peel. In the background theres a delicate pepperiness. On the palate there is a very delicate liquorice sweetness, which works perfectly with the citrus which is forward on the taste, along with gentle spice notes. It's soft and delicate, and extremely smooth in the mouth. The finish is warming, very smooth, with lemon lingering. In the words of the distiller: "Unconventional English Distillation of the finest botanicals, blended with the purest Icelandic water. Is it Madness or Genius?" - only you can tell!Read more about Martin Miller's Perfect Serve The premise behind this gin is "gin as it should be", so a neutral tonic works best - and we recommend Seventeen Tonic Water. In a large glass filled with lots of ice pour 50ml of the gin and top up with 150-200ml of tonic. Garnish with a quartered strawberry.
