Rise of the Triad is a first-person shooter that is the successor to the popular game from 1994. The game was produced by the Danish Interceptor Entertainment studio, which previously created a fan remake of Duke Nukem 3D. The game offers a full-scale single player campaign, which allows you to play as one of the five members of the H.U.N.T squad. (High-Risk United Nations Taskforce). Each of the heroes has unique abilities and their own fighting style. Their task is to infiltrate an island controlled by cultists wanting to destroy Los Angeles. However, the authors did not follow modern trends and instead focused on recreating the crazy, brutal and highly humorous style of the first part.
Rise of the Triad puts emphasis on unrestricted destruction and the fun is mainly about murdering hordes of enemies. The primary weapon is the MP 40 submachine gun with endless ammunition. There were also more crazy killing tools, such as excalibat, a baseball bat equipped with a magic eye that can send a series of exploding balls towards enemies. The drunk rocket launcher, on the other hand, fires a flock of missiles with completely unpredictable flight paths. We also use a number of ingenious traps in combat. Rise of the Triad is even more brutal than the original. Enemies are literally torn to shreds - after a correct hit, their arms and legs fall apart, and their heads roll joyfully on the floors. Throughout all this, the heroes regularly regale us with funny texts. In total, the game offers 20 single-player levels and each of them is full of secrets waiting to be discovered.
Rise of the Triad also features multiplayer options. Three game modes return in it: Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch and Capture the Flag. The last of them had to appear in the remake, because Rise of the Triad from the 90s was the first shooter with this form of fun on the Internet. It is worth adding that both online and in the solo campaign, there are collectibles that guarantee indestructibility or the ability to transform into a dog. For older fans, there is an option to turn on the original sounds and music from the original. Finally, it is worth adding that the game is based on the Unreal 3.0 engine and offers extensive modding tools.
