Godfall is an action RPG with looter shooter elements from Counterplay Games studio, the Duelyst card game developer. The title deviates from the scheme known from the Borderlands and Destiny series, giving up shooting and the futuristic world in favour of hand-to-hand combat in the high fantasy universe. Godfall takes place in a fictional high-fantasy world that is threatened with extinction. The only hope for its inhabitants is the order of knights with almost divine powers. Unfortunately, even powerful, legendary armor does not guarantee victory. When the game starts, the Order is in turmoil, and chaos has swallowed up most of the world. The last surviving knights must climb to the top of their abilities to stop the apocalypse. The game's story draws inspiration from classic fantasy stories, including Brandon Sanderson's Stormlight Archive and the Isaac Asimov Foundation saga.
