Joseph Haydn (1732-1809) was an Austrian composer who became the figurehead of the classical movement. He formed a close and mutually respectful relationship with Mozart, and later taught Beethoven, but it was his compositions that left an indelible mark on the musical landscape of Western Europe.

God Is Gone Up With A Merry Noise is an anthem for six-part SSAATB choir. It sets a passage from Psalm 47, and is presented here in the original minim version with an Organ accompaniment by Vincent Novello . William Croft (1678-1727) was an English composer, organist and choirmaster. He studied with John Blow at the Chapel Royal and later became organist at Westminster abbey. He is best remembered for the tune Saint Anne which was written for the hymn O God, Our Help In Ages Past , and also for his Funeral Sentences which have been sung at every British State Funeral since the 1700s.

Pleading is a song for solo voice with Piano accompaniment, written in 1908. It was composed for, and dedicated to, the composer's great friend Lady Maud Warrender . It was published as the composer's opus 41 in three arrangements: No. 1 is for medium voice, and is set in the Key of G major. Versions for low and high voices are also available. The text is from a poem by Arthur L. Salmon . Edward Elgar (1857-1934) is one of England’s best-known and most-loved composers. He was self-taught as composer, coming from outside the musical and social establishment, which allowed his music to be fresh and unencumbered.
