Evening Waterfall comes from a cycle of eleven a cappella choral pieces derived from Early Moon, a collection of poetry by Carl Sandburg. The images in these simple, direct lyrics have a depth and resonance that all but cry outfor musical expression. Evening Waterfall is one of the easiest, certainly the most diatonic, of the Early Moon pieces. Imagine yourself, or perhaps, your childhood self, sitting in a tree or lying on the grass in the gloaming ofa summer's evening. The sounds of birds, the feel of wind on your skin, the sight of early stars: all seem to conspire to give you a name...to call you by your real name. But such knowledge--a kind of certainty about one's selfand place--is ephemeral. It cannot be willed to appear, or to stay. We are left alone, wondering what was the name you called me? and why did you go so soon?

A horse is more than an individual horse - fish, birds,men, woemn, children: they are, all of them, something larger than they seem - and they are named All God's children.

Ilian Lundberg (b. 1993, Sweden) almost exclusively composes sacred choral music, often inspired by models from the Renaissance and Baroque. He won the Summer Singers Composers Competition (Minneapolis) in 2018. His music has beenperformed in his native Sweden, Norway, France, the UK, and the US. O Magnum Mysterium (SATB, 2012) is Lundberg's first choral work, written at the age of 18. This elaborate setting rises out of the lower range of the men'svoices and takes on a Gesualdo-like chromaticism as it expresses the wonder of the O Magnum Mysterium text.

Ilian Lundberg (b. 1993, Sweden) almost exclusively composes sacred choral music, often inspired by models from the Renaissance and Baroque. He won the Summer Singers Composers Competition (Minneapolis) in 2018. His music has beenperformed in his native Sweden, Norway, France, the UK, and the US. Thank You God for Grace (SATTBB, 2018) is an homage to Palestrina, particularly the Missa Papae Marcelli. Strict imitation is used in the six parts at first,then more subtle forms of imitation are used. The purity of the music is echoed in the simplicity of the text, which is limited to the five words of the title.
