Transcription for solo Alto Saxophone and Wind Band. Written in 1970, Robert Muczynski's two-movement Sonata for Alto Saxophone and Piano has become a standard in the Saxophone repertoire. Anthony LaBounty has skilfully adapted this work for Wind Band accompaniment, carefully preserving the intent and style of the original with its unique blend of modern tonalities and syncopated rhythmic drive.

A wonderful introduction to “minimalist” music from one of America's most treasured contemporary composers.

István Bogár's series of movements intended for youngsters is colourfully instrumented, evocative music, rich in melodic invention: in character it is most closely akin to Tchaikovsky's Nutcracker ballet music. In the opening movement (Little march), little boys wearing paper shakos on their heads and carrying wooden swords play at soldiers. The following movement, Humming, is the only movement in the suite that is calm and in odd-numbered rhythm: in it the children gather flowers in their little baskets, and meanwhile hum pleasant tunes. The third movement is a funny game, with its tempo sometimes speeding up, sometimes slowing down, but by the end really going wild.The titleof the finale is Game of tag. The tiny formal sections and interludes in this lively, cheerful music are linked together by a recurring rondo theme, and the chase ends with a brief coda.

Concertino for Clarinet

Concertino for Clarinet and Wind Orchestra was commissioned by the Swiss Wind Band Association (SBV) to celebrate the “Year of the Clarinet 2015”. In three sections, separated by cadenzas for the soloist, the work explores all aspects and characteristics of the clarinet. It includes virtuoso elements and dialogues between the other winds, as well as a beautiful slow movement, which makes this piece a musically challenging yet accessible piece for any audience.

Waltz for Debby

“Waltz for Debby” was written by American jazz pianist and composer Bill Evans (1929-1980). It was heard for the first time on his 1956 debut record “New Jazz Conceptions”. This recording made the tune his most famous one, included on several later recordings both for solo piano and his usual trio format. It also became a favorite on almost all his concerts. The tune is a kind of a musical portrait of Evans’ niece, Debby Evans. In Scandinavia, Swedish singer Monica Zetterlund made it popular for a wider audience through her 1964-recording accompanied by Evans and his trio. On this recording, the song was renamed “Monicas vals”.
